So iv started a cfl grow in my room just for shits and giggles, and to get HAF of course. Anyway does this plant look ok? Im noticing the new growth is somewhat curled up like a taco almost. No nutrients added yet, two 23 watt 5000k daylight cfl's pushing 1600 lumens And four 13 watt cfl's. Temp average is 80 degrees. Is this how new growth grows? Do I have a problem? Am I just paranoid??? Any feedback would be great! Thanks

No, no nutrients yet just water. And they are in some Scott's potting soil for now. The other plants are fine, this one is the biggest so far so it may just be the way the new bigger foliage grows?

so from what i have gathered this may be a boron deficiency.. news to me. Im guessing its a ph problem. Ill be adding nutrients in a few days. Can this plant be recovered?

I doubt its boron. Did the bag of soil say it feeds for three months? You say 80 average. How high have the temps got? Where are you taking the temps? What strain is it?

yes it says feeds up to 4 months. the highest it has reached was 85 and thats mid day. the temp is taken in the center of the box, im using a reptile thermometer for the time being, it is reliable thankfully. and im not sure on the strain, its either green crack or cheese from my brothers grow last year.

Its warm. Set the thermometer on top of the soil and see what it reads. Also I see some nute burn starting on the leaf closest to the bottom. That soil has time release ferts in it. The more you water the more that release. Stay on the dry side.

ok thanks ill try these solutions. so flushing wouldnt help any or even work for that matter with this soil? i also only water every few days when the pot becomes much lighter and soil is dry. would a transplant to organic soil help?

Don't flush. I dont think you need to transplant. Just make sure the pot is light when you water and dont drench it. Mainly move the thermometer and watch temps. Try to get down to about 76.

it seems to be snapping out of it and the leaves are uncurling. Those taco shaped leaves were new to me but freaked me out. when i rebuilt my box the other day the plants were outside a few hours in the sun, could that have caused this?

I had the same issue with my last grow. A few days after I planted my babies the leaves started curling like a taco so I moved the lights further away from the plants and in about a week they looked normal again. I think they got too hot. After that I kept the lights about 14" away at all times and never had that issue again

Yea trial and error proved it. I was too hot. Ty for the info guys. she snapped out of it thankfully.
