I live in the suburbs is it a good idea to plant a plant in the backyard or on a balcony? I am just wondering cause I don't wanna get caught by the popo for growing marijuana just want to grow 1 plant do you think I can get it growing on my balcony or in the backyard without detection?

Hey there ATB!
Im living in the suburbs as well and have not had any type of problems growing 12 or 13 plants on my balcony. Neighbors are still very nosey and the police are thick in this neighborhood! Try what I am doing and learn to grow many types of legal plants like small shrubs and things like tomatoes and beans, use the fact that you have many other plants growing to your advantage. Do not try to advertantly hide them, that just makes you much more guilty of doing something wrong and neighbors will get much more nosey and you will get busted!!!
I have planted almost two dosen Indy's and sativas on my balcony but have transplanted 11 or so to a nearby area that is not on my property but have left two on the back patio of my townhome. I have at least 5 garden bean plants, 4 tomatoes, a potted cedar tree and a multitude of herbs like basil and cilantro. Blend all these plants with your babies and learn the techniques of supercropping and bending, do not let your plants get more than 3 feet in height! Also, if you have fragrant flowers and herbs don't worry about smell of budding plants, it will all combine and smell like a sweet greenhouse.
I also have a closet space where I have a 100 W CFL and a fan when the weather outside is undesirable so that my ladies can use the time effeciently and not wasted on a cloudy day.
One thing you have to worry about is the heat from direct sunlight on patios or balconies, on a sunny day about 80 degrees, a flat surface can reach temps of over 100 degrees!!! if you have decided to plant on the patio instead of your backyeard, make sure you get big pots and a lot of soil. I have grown several plants on my balcony over many summers and autumns with no problems but realize that you are new to this, there will be issues. If you stress about neighbors, you are either paranoid or you actually have a reason to be worried, you decide what is the truth and if neighbors are that bad where you live, don't risk it and grow in a place nearby that you can tend to without detection.
Be safe and use your instincts, nobody wants another inthusiast in jail or prison over bothersome neighbors!!!
Good luck

yes, its a must do.
yes good idea

depends on state and laws... how much do you wanna risk jail time for 1 plant?

I live in canada. Worst they'll do is kill the plant and then fine me $250.00. no jail time for anything less than 5 plants.

I already started planting flowers on my balcony, got about 5 meters of plants on my balcony (mine is pretty big). I don't have to worry about jail for 1 plant only a $250.00 fine & they'll kill my plant :(. I was going to stunt the growth of the plant to make it only grow 1-2 feet so I don't get caught. All I need is about 30 grams minimum dried weight and im good for a whole 6 months. I am also building a pc grow box just incase the canadian weather is messed up when im flowering i can just put it in the grow box. Thanks :)

dude, If I didnt get jail time for anything less than 5 plants, id have 5 MONSTER plants goin.
I would love to grow that but I honestly don't need that much bud, thats wayyyyy toooo muchhhh. 10 grams can last me 4 months :)
