Actually...its more of a bark. The plant on the left seems to have this wood around the stem, but the one on the right doesn't. Both have great root systems. They are both Female Belladonnas.

Is this just genetic?

Or is this a problem I need to sort out?

If so how?

no impact, no idea if the roots are healthy be happy and run with it.
