my hashberry plant turned hermaprodite on me and now my crop is seeded.

Lesson Learned: Don't use inferior genetics.

From your explanation. Genetics do not have a thing to do with it, it could have happened to anybody.

the seeds were more likely from a male seeding the crop and u getting the seeds in your bud. something probly happend to your plant causeing it to hermaphrodite.

are you implying that bagseed does not produce seedy buds..I'm weary of using bagseed for that reason!!!

the ONLY way a female plant (which is what you smoke) can have seeds in the buds is if she got pollenated.

all seeds can produce seedy buds.

seedy buds does not mean it cant be great bud....it can be great bud, just has seeds in it. somebody forgot to pull the male/hermie out the crop

lets set this straight - if a female is pollenated by a male, the seeds will not have a hermie trait (unless the unlikely chance of the male having a hermie trait in its genetics that could be passed down to F1 and F2 generations). however, if a female hermies and pollenates itself - those seeds will more than likely have a hermie trait, whether its expressed in the phenotype is up to the genotype (genetics) - and probably also whether you stress it enough or not. in other words, bagseed has high risks of hermying. this is a fact, it doesnt mean all bagseed will hermie or be seeded - it just means its risky. im surprised to see so many ppl defending bagseed, the poster was correct all along.

thank you

and i want to warn people firsthand about the dangers of bagseed.

danger danger.

i beg to differ, i think this is from the breeder. alot of these strains come from
a female. the breeders like to make seed stock so they mutate a female. this usually rears its ugly traits down the line.

Stick with regular seed stock and make sure you avoid using the seeds from that plant as you dont want to carry that trait to all your plants

I am just going by his original statements. Bagseed+Hermie= Bad Genetics. Going by what he says he is just flat out blaming it on bagseed as the ultimate cause. This is not always the case, the plant may have been stressed at some point. I am just wanting to point out that just because it was bagseed does not mean it will hermie or be bad genetics.

I have about 25 plants under my belt now and up until my last harvest I had used nothing but bagseed. To be quite honest, I have yet to see a male or hermie plant, everything has always been female. But of those 25, some have died along the way, but never intentionally, so I will never know what sex those would have been. Just newb mistakes more than anything.

You must be Jesus's clone then. You have 25 plants under your belt, and have not seen ONE MALE?? You are at 100% female plants with BAGSEEDS?

Buddy, I think you better go to the Hospital and have that Horse Shoe removed from your ASS, because if this is true. You are about the luckiest Man/Woman walking the planet.

I shit you not. I am beside myself about it too, but I know my luck is going to run out soon. Now, I am growing purchased seeds though. I dont know why I have been so lucky. I throw the seeds in a wet paper towel, put the towel in a ziplock and seal it halfway, put on top of my armoire. Two days later I get them out, drop them in soil and just water them when they are thirsty. Other than some training along the way, I do not touch them, once they are in soil I dont touch them. Light and H2O is all I give them.

bagseed is only dangerous if your a fucking retard i have grown a lot of bagseed and have still not had a single seed in any of the buds i have smoked all you have to do is pay attention to your plants and pull the bad ones, oh yea pulling your head out of your ass helps too

if you would have started more than 1 plant you would probably be saying why do people buy seeds. Your ass could turn ak47 into bagseed.lol

hey buddy

funk off

Thats not nice to tell me to pull my head out of my ass.

I noticed something resembling pollen sacs about halfway down about a week and a half ago but i dismissed them as a part of the female plant due to inexperience. I didnt want to cut off the branch because i was waiting on big, beautiful buds to grow and i didnt want to sacrifice a major branch.

This plant that i grew definately was stressed, that definately helped to produce the hermaphrodite trait.
It's cool.
We learn from our mistakes and improve.

Now the only thing im worried about are the clones i took from this plant, before i flowered it.
Safe or not?

I am 3 weeks into flower with 21 bagseed indica mix plants. Of the 21 6 were males and i had 3 shemales caused by the tape I had over a light on a power strip peeling off and me not noticing it. If it was not for the power strip Im sure they would not have hermied. Bag seed is fine to use.

Your an idiot. It's hard to spot hermies when they don't show up till late in flowering. Bagseed is bunk. You just got lucky. I tried growing bagseed once just to see if it would turn out good and plus I didn't have the money to order more seeds. Gigantic waste of time and money, the entire crop was seeded.

Dude, it takes a lot to stress a plant to hermie. I've tried to stress a female to hermie and couldn't do it. Why do you guys think bagseed is good and all hermies are caused by stress? Genetic hermies are common in bagseed. Why do you think a piece of tape cause it to hermie? It definitely sounds like a genetic hermie to me.

I know it was the power strip because it was 3 plants in the same tray that is up against the strip.

Hmmm may just be a coincidence? If stressing plants to hermie were that easy my current crop would be hermies. I accidentally turned the timer off when cleaning my room and left the light on for 48 hrs 4 wks into flower. 5 wks into flower power went out and the lights were off for 5 hrs longer than they should be. 6 wks in power went out again and I didn't know it and they were without light for 20 hrs...Now I'm at 8 wks and they look great. Trust me, it is very hard to stress a plant hermie. But, I could be wrong, maybe bagseed is more prone to hermie induced by stress, IDK. It just doesn't sound like it to me.
