I got a surprise auto…Now what?

Hi everyone.

I was experimenting with some old bag seed that I'd been saving for a few years. I had no idea what they were, but one of the seedlings started showing female pre flowers under 18/6 and it just kept going. It was in a 1 gallon container (Super Soil) and I transplanted it into a 5 gallon container and kept it at 18/6 and it just kept flowering. So, I thought, "Gee! That's one of those auto flowering plants I've been reading about on RIU!"

But, I have a slight "problem" now, I think….maybe not…

I only have one 3 x 3 tent that has 3 other different strains init -everything still on the 18/6 schedule. Now, I've got this auto flowering plant in there, too -in full flower! I'm going to need to flip to 12/12 soon.

My questions: What will happen to the auto flowering plant in the tent when I flip to 12/12? Will it continue to flower? Will it throw a bunch of bananas?

Advice?

Thanks

If the plant is fully mature before flipping to 12/12 I have found going to 12/12 has yielded a negligible difference in yield maybe 10to20% less than if you left it, though once going to 12/12 leave it at that or otherwise than you might stress her enough to throw bananas... Would love to see a pic of this mystery auto :)

Thanks, everyone.

I'm slightly confused about the "advantage" of an auto. I mean….it doesn't afford the grower much room for scheduling. The plants just flower when they decide.

Yes, they grow smaller. I get that. -good for cabinet grows, etc. But I've also read that, generally, they aren't as potent as other species of cannabis.

I've read they are more pest, disease resistant. I get that, too. But, in a tent, the grower is able to control the environment so closely, that most plants will grow very well without much chance for "invaders".

So, I'm curious to find out how this one will go!

Oh, and I am so old, I haven't figured out how to take pictures with my phone and then transfer them! :)

Tstick, I'm currently growing four autos and I ordered the seeds because I thought they grew in 60 days. When you consider the fact that they actually have a normal flowering time and the 8-week to harvest estimate is bullshit I agree, 12/12 from seed on a seed with good genetics would be better even in a cabinet grow. And to take a picture and transfer it just take the picture on your phone, and then from the options in your phone's camera either text or e-mail it to your e-mail. (You can send a text to an e-mail just fine). From your e-mail you can download it to your computer, and then upload it to the net :D.

Thanks, everyone.

auto's take 10 weeks usually from seed most not taking over 13 weeks for the more sativa dom so they are very easy to schedule just switch to bloom nutes when vertical stretch has stopped ,
you may very well just have a semi auto since it came from bag seed , like the iranian auto has no ruderalis ..... so it has no timer it veg's on 24/0 and flowers when you cut the lights back some , another advantage in a controlled environment is the lighting you can run 24/0 and it just increases yield , in a large pot with enough light and proper feed the majority of auto's now will easily yield 4-6 oz's in 10 weeks , also ruderalis based auto's naturally have a higher CBD .... yes they maybe a percent or two lower on THC but most of them have twice as much CBD as the majority of photoperiod plants , i like being high dont get me wrong cant beat a good buzz , but the positive effects of CBD cant be denied its worth it to me a slightly and i do mean very slighlty lower THC to gain the cancer fighting , anti inflammatory , pain killing effects that CBD is known for , i can just take a bigger toke to make up for the tiny amount of ruderalis that was left in the plant after stabilizing it and breeding it out over many many generations

The advantage to me is being able to start a new plant any time without consideration for light schedules. I'm just a personal stash guy so I have a 3X3 tent I use. I mainly grow one plant at a time because mine are real bushy and about 3 foot tall. I don't like trying to full with two mature plants in that small space. So what I do is start another plant 4-7 weeks in to the cycle. Kind of a perpetual grow type thing with only one tent and two LED's. Keeps me in smoke. Haven't ran out for years.

Thanks for more info!

How is the flavor compared to non-auto strains? Anything unique to look for in terms of terpenes. etc.?

some are right up there with photo's in the flavor dept , the more ruderalis dominant strains tend to have a spicy black pepper taste to them not bad at all ... they are not super loud usually but some are it just really depends on genetics
