I feel awful and need help! :(

Hi, I've got some plant problems. I went away for the weekend and came back to find my plants in a desperate situation. I can't tell what the problem is, and it looks to me like a combination of 1) over watering and 2) nitrogen deficiency. I'm not sure though, and I really don't want to make things worse than they are already. I'm planted in soil and yellowing seems to affect the older (lower) leaves only, but aside from that everything has the droopy over watered look. What should I do?

Do you have a fan near them? They look heart stressed to me. Those plants are too small to be lacking nutrients, you'll only make things worse with fertilizer.

they look sad, they could bounce back. u should have them in seperate puts so the roots dont fight for water and you dont need to untangle the roots to transplant. indoors right? what are you using for light? whats your cycle, and were the plants given 24/0 of light with no fresh air all weekend? that would explain this....

could be heat. could be ventilation.

There looks to be a lot of perlite in that soil...maybe more perlite than soil...to me they look UNDERWATERED. You were out of town so they clearly didn't get watered right? The soil probably dries out too quickly with all that perlite...no water for a couple days and 4 plants in one container sucking up whatever they can probably means lack of water.

The ventilation in the area isn't the greatest, I try to keep it opened up when I'm around though so that they can breathe. I raised the lights a couple of inches, they didn't feel hot but when the plants are under them for 18 hours a day it may not be helping.

Yeah, it's a closet operation here, and I'll look into getting separate pots. I'm using four 4' fluorescent tubes, I want to say they're of the cool white variety but honestly I can't remember :X lol. They're on 18/6 currently, and have been for a while, workin' on the fresh air though atm.

I just watered them and I've got some decent ventilation going now; I'll let everyone know.


Thanks for all the replies everyone! I'm glad to know it's not a nutrient issue, my head was spinning trying to diagnose. I've gotten them some decent ventilation and fresh water so hopefully they'll bounce back. Thanks again for all the help, I'll keep the tread updated as things progress

Yep they're looking better, stale air was your problem for sure.

wow they really bounced back huh? less than a day went bye and they look back to healthy

I just watered 'em down and let the breeze in, I guess that's all they really wanted!
