Screenshot_20180717-085132.png For some reason resists air flow much more than my last carbon filter from ipower, causes tent to run noticeably hotter! :cuss:

Only two months old, what can I do besides chuck it? I'm going to bash it with a rubber mallet to loosen it up tomorrow (will also inspect/clean fan and check for leaks, but no issues until changed filter) will report back if anything happens besides a bunch of carbon on the floor
(I still have the old filter?!)

I'm guessing from a distance this filter is more solidly packed with carbon. A bigger fan or a less efficient filter at this point.

Hi Beachwalker,
It is irksome when you put out good money and get a less then ideal product.

That being said...aren't they designed so that you can replace the charcoal? Mine is. So I would take it apart and see what it looks like in there. Might be like Harley said...packed too tight. So just leave a little out when you re-pack it.

Do most folks just buy a new filter rather then replacing the charcoal? Good activated charcoal is actually quite inexpensive.
Cheers,
JD

filters with replaceable carbon are fairly new, they used to come riveted together, if you wanted to open them you had to grind the rivet heads off, which put it out of a lot of peoples skill set to begin with.
a lot of them still come that way, the phresh i bought last year is riveted together.....but i got the skills

Man, I know we live in a throw away culture but that's ridiculous. I just checked my new-in-box Phresh filter and sure as shit...rivets. I too know how to deal with rivets

My only other filter I owned was one I bought on eBay a few decades back. Hacked together by a sheet metal guy and easy to take apart. Must have replaced the carbon half a dozen times.
