Hydrologic stealth RO

figured I'd do a small review on the Hydrologic stealth RO100.

Most on here I assume use RO water, for those that dont....this is your best option. Compared to a under sink unit, these are much easier to install (right out of box) comes with every fitting (you'll find under sink systems generally need you to purchase other fittings).

they come in two sizes RO100 and RO200, the difference between the two?
one does 100 gpd (gallons per day) and the other does 200.

You can mount this to a wall in your grow room and run any hose to it as long as it as a 3/4" male end.

or

Simply just run it to your faucet. Hook up when needed. (assuming you have a garden hose attachment on your faucet ($2 at lowes, home depot, menardes)

starting water: 197ppm 7.6ph
finished water: 0-15 ppm 6.3-6.5 ph

at 40 psi you should get a gallon every 30 minutes or so.

Also this system uses a 2:1 ratio of waste water. Meaning for every gallon you get, you waste two gallons ( not bad compared to other units sometimes up to 7:1)

you can find the RO100 for under $200 online.

please excuse the dirty sink.

Go to purewaterclub.com, you can get a 0 ppm unit for $102....... super simple to set up just like this, but much cheaper.
I run mine to a 55 gallon barrel with a float valve, then i always have 50 gallons of 0 ppm water ready, no waiting.

I did not know that, I just didnt wanna mess with a under sink unit again, they are too much hassle. That would have saved me $100 though! It would take me 3 weeks to use up 50 gallons though. I have this running to a 30 gal tub now. whats your waste water ratio though? this seemed to be the only system I could find that was less then 3:1, but then again I didnt see your system.

I actually got one that i can't find now, it was a 5 stage, doesn't have the 6th for taste (kind of unneeded), and i thought it was like 3/4 of a gallon waste to a gallon of clean water. Now it does not say..... Water change tonight, i will start with it and keep an eye on the waste, seems to be close to 1:1, i have to run the waste to a sump then it gets pumped out, so i can monitor it with no issue at all. I do hydro so i use more water than most, but this unit is great, been using it for more than a year i think.
I could make any unit work, but you are right this type of unit has huge benefit over then under the sink unit, my favorite is the fact i didn't get a bunch of junk i didn't need, just what was needed for my app.

I can remember the first time I installed a under sink unit, such a pain, and for someone who doesn't know what they are doing....2 hours later they usually call a plumber, or friend with knowledge of plumbing. I rather have less filters then more, as long as it still comes out 0 ppm....= less filters to buy.

Yes I can imagine you use much more water then I (container based coco).

I don't worry too much about waste ratio, as I don't have to pay a water bill. But it is nice to know your not wasting a ton in process.

If I could return this unit, Id probably go with yours...saving me $100.

I have a Stealth RO 200 and had a flooded house recently due to the compression fitting blowing out where the main lines meets the RO itself.

Come to find out they now are not doing the compression fittings and are making them one piece. I wonder if I should send them the bill for the flood repair?!

good job lambofgod, i just picked up the 200 and thought i had to mount it under the sink somehow lol... question, the black waste line, you just leave that in the sink i assume? draining down the sink, or do u store the waste water or empty it somewhere else?

Good review.

Quick question. I was thinking of buying this unit for an upcoming grow. I noticed they also sell a de-chlorinator and sediment filter. Are these necessary or optional?

I just hooked up my Hydrologic Chlorine filter. It doesn't adjust the ppms of the water, just takes out chlorine which is perfect for me. If you have high ppm water I would get the RO filter, my $.02

There are many cheap de-chorinator and sediment filter available. That doen't mean they are good. Keep with Hydro-Logic systems. They are only one in the world. Contact with their sales team and get right thing. Happy gardening

This is the unit I just removed and put back on the shelf. Its states a 3 to 1 ratio and with the insert a 2 to 1...bullshit. Check your run off and you will see a much higher ratio then that. I was gifted the unit at Christmas and found out it was a waste. If you live in a city and your tap water is under 400ppm, personally, its a waste of time and energy. There was no difference in quality or quantity when compared to my tap water. Good Luck

I just received a Hydro Logic Stealth RO 200 from a friend. I dont see the fitting to hook to the faucet. Do I have to go to the hardware store?
