2x2x5.5=22 cubic feet... 165 cubic feet minute is more than enough u goin to hook up a filter to that?

Yes,, and a muffler.
Haven't used a muffler but another option may be to use a fan speed controller...Hydrofarm/Active Air has them for cheap and they are variable with a dial/knob. They will also reduce the amount of electricity used along with the noise.
Just an idea...

Recomend the fan speed controller as well to control noise more than anyting and you got a lot of headroom air volume wise with a small space. It'll reduce noise more than 50%

Well, if you don't need hardly the amount of cfm's produced by the fan due to your small space, why not a speed controller. It really does reduce the noise. I've tried it on my 8" Active Air inline and it goes from loud to hardly any noise at all at 50%.
The controller is very inexpensive anyways...If you don't like it, toss it...but I don't see any reason you wouldn't like it...

just reading some of the reviews some are a hit or miss, and some just plain dont work with the fan, i added this one to my order.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003URBQ1M/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01 its like 25 bucks, hope it is a good one if not then i ogtta order the other one which is like 20.

No. These fans use a permanent split capacitor (PSC) motor.
On that note.
These speed controllers use high commutation 3 quadrant triacs.
They are designed for use on AC inductive loads without the need for a protective snubber.

i have the same fan and i use the speedster fan controller and have no issues whatsoever..
also have a duct silencer and between both i'd say they cut noise by a good 75% or more..

It will work fine.
That's the one I have and it works great. That's the one I suggest.
Panasonic FV-20NLF1 240cfm 1.4 sones (low decibel 25 maybe) 55watts. Can only hear it when in the room with insulated flex duct cfm drops a bit and a bit more with carbon filter. But no muffler, no speed controller and no air moving sounds along the duct. $140 from wholesaler.

I have this same fan, except a size larger. It works very well, and is the quietest fan I have (Can, Active Air, CAP).
