hydrofarm 6 foot light mover weight limitations

NEVER OUTGUNNED

so i bought this light mover and realized it says its rated for 20 lbs which sucks cause my extrasun 1000hps 6" hood is rated at 25lbs. so do any of you fellas have experience with this thing? should i be seriously concerned? ive installed it and it moves and seems to hold just fine.

Should be fine although be warned, if it's the model with the chain drive I hear the suck ass pretty bad an typically last 6 months tops

yeah it the chain drive kind, seems to work ok. i nput some weight bearing drywall screws. my concern is that due to the weight it will fall but it looks pretty sturdy so far.

I would use toggle bolts or the threaded base kind of screws. Where you screw in the plastic base and then screw te screws into the plastic base. I realize that you already have it and all but if you can take it back and get the intelidrive track model with the adjustable pause at each end you will be much happier. The plants in the center will get twice as much light as the ends if you can't adjust the delay. I have 3 600's on an intelirail and it took me a couple weeks to get it dialed but a delay of 80 seconds on each end results in even light over a 5 foot span.

dude i just read ur post, and i actually did just that earlier today. that thing is complete crap!! stuck three times, and when your flowering and have to move plants around to get to the rail sucks ass! coughed up the extra 99 and now im much happier, i just feel crappy cause that's some serious cheddar for a stupid little motor and aluminum rail. i could have got another 600wt digital set up for 50$ more...

Hydrofarms light tracks are complete crap. Waste of money. They move WAY TOO SLOW to be effective. Take it back and spend the extra cash for a Light Rail 3.5 or 5

movement wasnt an issue, but the fucking thing keep getting stuck and it just looks flimsy. The 3.5 10rpm was much simpler and has way more features.

nice dude. Yeah the 3.5 is money. I'm actually moving three vented hoods over my SCROG with a 3.5 so they have plenty of power.

nice! I always freakin worried that im going to come home and find ashes where my apartment was, all that weight hanging from drywall scares me.

Well if your really worried you can always just span two studs and screw the rail to the studs. Watch your plants closely and adjust the pause at each end to get even coverage. Like I said. My mover tracks about 4 feet and I pause about 70 seconds or so on each end. It helps to scratch lines on the plastic case and one on the adjuster knob so you can actually tell how much you moved it. Or use a paint marker.

If you ever wonder if rails are the shit or not, watch the shadows move across the understory leaves and buds. Fucking rocks to get so much coverage.
