Hydro Setup

ok, what exactly do you need for a hydro setup? a simple to use setup for a SOG type grow with about 60 plants. 4.5' x 3' SOG table. i want to grow SOG but using soil is kinda crazy since it will be hard to give nutes and water 60 plants. and about how much would it cost? anybody know this stuff?

ok so you have a table, are you thinking Ebb and Flow? meaning flooding the table?

If so you need a res 20+gallons I would think, some fittings (intake and outake). A water pump, nothing too strong but nothing real weak either, I would wait on someone who knows better than me. Nutes, a medium like hydroton, etc.

What kind of hydro unit exactly?

Easiest and a cost effective way and how they do it commercially in holland, is to use aquatrays and rockwool slabs as part of a drip system.

Theres a few guys on here that have picked it up with great success.

so say i built a table these dimensions 4.5' X 3', what additional components do i need? VV where you at? I need a reservoir and a water pump right? i need a medium like coco or rockwool right? so how does this ebb and flow system work? what else do i need? im growing some cough and have high hopes. i will spare no expense but see no need to waste money on the same note. basically i will spend what i need to spend but dont want to spend more than i need to. you understand what im saying. im a businessman like that. which and how much medium do i need? im going to be making a purchase asap so all your help is greatly appreciated my stoned brethren.

You should really look into the drip system NGT described...I am doing a
dual SoG with an e&b, and one with drip. The drip is better for SoG
purposes because once you get to the point where there is always
plants being flushed out, they can easily be hand watered while the
rest keep dripping.

If you want some ideas check out my journal...

I would do it in a minitiaure version...those buckets are about
twice the size I would need for full grown girls in 6" cubes...the
idea seems easy enough, it's just the space I don't have.

i have no fear building my own and buy what i cant. thats actually exactly what i am trying to do. JBlunt your setup is sick. LoudBlunts that DIY was exactly what I was looking for. what do you think i would need to modify to make it a SOG grow? those buckets are obviously too big for that application. and does $300 sound about right for that setup? that isnt too bad. could I accommodate a 4.5' by 3' grow with a 50 gallon reservoir or could I go smaller, especially if my individual grow containers are smaller.
