Hybrids and home creations.....

Kandy Apple Kush Grow

Just thought i would start a new thread to talk about people experiences with F1 Hybrids. I have recently aquired 20 seeds from a seed bank called stenkraft (they only have two types), that are selling F1 hybrid seeds that they have named HammerHead & Kandy Apple Kush. 10 of them were HammerHead and 10 were Kandy Apple Kush (acronym = KAK which i thought was quire funny).

Anyway... When they turned up the seemed like sorry looking seeds (as i only bought the cheap ones). I was a little dissapointed however i only paid like $30 for 20.

I planted 5 of the KAK in my little propergator to start the germination. After a couple of days 4 out of the 5 had germinated in the rockwool. I transplanted these to large life pots, ready for the grow.

Apparently KAK are Kandy Kush/Apple Jack.

I was using Canna Coco btw. I gave them a very low solution of around 130 ppm for the first week and slowly increased it as they grew.

I veged for around 4 weeks and then changed the cycle to enter flower. After a while i noticed that one was a male, so i bagged it and took pleasure in killing it!!!! GGRRR

Im now into 7th week of flower and have noticed many, many, buds that are starting to swell nicely. The leaves are glistening and the whole plant looks very nice indeed. I am still yet to sample the fruit's of the tree.

So overall, 3 females out of 5 seeds wasnt to bad, infact for the price it was great. he only downer is, it stinks, it has the most pungent cheesey/yeasty/sweaty armpits odor i have ever smelled, a bit like blueberry but with more cheese and mouldy apples....

Apparently the HammerHead is a Kandy Kush / Arjans Haze Hybrid of mixed sex, so i am expecting good things from this too.

I will try to post pictures when i get around to it.

Does anyone else have any experiences with F1 Hybrids? I am really interested in finding out some of your creations....

When I plan to cross, There's a lot of time that goes behind it. I'll aquire my father seed and locate them outside no where near my sensimella crop. It's good if you know other outdoor growers that inbreed there lines so you can just ask if you can walk into there crop and , take a sandwich bag , break a small branch of with pollen, so you can bring it to your females, then take a small painters brush , taking the pollen and painting on to the specific branches of your nicest female , this way the hole plant or crop doesn't go to seed. just the flowers you paint with pollen. It's best to find some one else to grow the male for you and just take some of the pollen so you don't have to worry about the hole ordeal of growing it they do. just as long as the strain there growing is a suitable cross to your female
