I tried LST on my plant and the stem got a sharp bend in it but did not snap. Is that OK or should I straiten the stem back to vertical?

I think you should carefully tie it to something to get it straight but dont over do it because you could hurt it...thats my suggestion

Take a couple bread bag twisty things & tie a popcicle stick for support - it should heal completely in 10 days or so.

can I leave it bent over though?

Yes. Actually bending them at a right angle without snapping is a method called super cropping. It will mitigate vertical growth and put more hormone into the lower branches of the plant. With any luck you will end up with a bit more bud from it. Your already using LST, shit happens sometimes when you are lashing plants down. :) If you ever snap one but not all the way through, just bust out the scotch tape and tape the stem back together. Marijuana is an extremely resilient plant. :-) Have fun!
