Humus

Is it "Hoo-mus" ? Or "Hum- us"?

hahaha without googling it or looking on dictionary.com I say "hum-us" but Im from the south and nothing we pronounce is right. Do you say "pee-can" or "pi-conn" when saying pecan?

Or "hew-mus"?
