What are some easy methods to maintain the correct humidity during each stage of growth and after harvest (for drying). Especially interested in the passive silica/ salt boxes vs active fan units.

I don't think silica would be sufficient. You're still going to need to vent, anyway.

you may consider looking at cigar sites for some ideas on passive RH control.

The cigar world will use silicon kitty liter, or oasis foam, or water gems to control RH,,,see attached pic (you can get these in craft stores).
