Humidity/relative when drying buds??

I see people say it should be 45-55% relative humidity when drying your crop.

Can someone please confirm if this means.. If I should make sure my hygrometer reading is 45-55%

I read the difference between humidity and relative humidity was:

humidity is the amount of water vapor present in the air and the relative humidity is the measure of the amount of water vapor present in the air compared to the amount needed for saturation

But this doesn't tell me what I should aim for on my hygrometer.

Can someone please clarify? Also i understand temps should be in the region of 15-21c or 59-70f, does this sound about right?

Many thanks

50% relative humidity is the number to shoot for. The RH number relates to the conditions in your grow room.
Reefer is like a shirt -- put them on the clothes line and they will dry out no matter what the conditions are. We like 50% RH
because we want the plant material to dry at an even rate. If you try just drying by leaving your shit out it will be crispy if you have low
RH and potential to mold if you have high RH.

Here's what I do to combat the 20-30% RH's we get here in the northwoods. Leave the bud spread out (I use 16" x 25" x 1" furnace filters -
$1 apiece at WalMart) for 2-3 days until the smaller buds are all dry. Your larger nugs will still be 50-50 dry and will mold if you stop there.
Instead, put the bud in a large glass container that you can seal closed. Canning jars with a rubber seal are perfect. Put the sealed jar in the
'fridge for 24 hours. This allows the moisture still in the larger buds to spread out so that all the greenery is the same dryness. After 24 hours open the jar
and let sit at room conditions for 24 hours. Everything will dry out some more. Test reefer. If still not dry enough do another cycle of 24 hours sealed and cold
and 24 hours with the jar open. After a day or 2 you will be satisfied with the results and can seal the jar permanently.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Thanks for your responses.
So if I can keep my hygrometer reading about 50% im heading towards some nice bud! This is pretty much my what i read elsewhere. Thanks for confirming that!

But how can this be... it surprises me how during flower period this reading/environment could cause issues, potentially mold no? It's 10% above my current humidity! But once cut its ideal range. Do you how this can be?

Some of my weed will be ready before others, so I thought of attaching cardboard boxes to the intake fan and drying out some when I leave the others to finish off. This fan would continue to be on 24hr, but when the lights out it slows right down, what I'm saying is that if there was no air flow for 12hr coud this cause increase risk of mold. I don't want to risk it so could put a desktop fan in there but I dint want to over dry/dry tool fast

I'm a bit fucked right now, it's taken me ages to write this! :weed:
