Humboldt recommended by hydro guy.

I read somewhere that it is not a bad idea to ask advise from your local hydro guy. So I go in to pick up some nutes and I am thinking of the Fox Farm Trio.

So the guy there, who looks like he may have been familiar with cannabis, says " I would stay away from Fox Farm, I highly recommend the Humboldt line of nutrients."

They all look the same to me, cool pictures, numbers, and words all over the bottles. Very interesting. But only one has the recommendation of Bernie the hydro guy.

So I buy the Humboldt and I am very happy with it. Plants love it.

Then I go back to the same store but different guy is there (we will call him Bud). So I say to Bud that I am looking for some Humboldt Big Bud because I am using the Humboldt line of nutes as recommended to me and it is time for some Big Bud.

Buds response to me is "Who recommended Humboldt?" In a tone that sort of implied stupidity on someones part (me or Bernie). I told him that it was the other guy that works here and that was the end of that discussion.

He sold me some MOAB as they were out of the Big Bud and he said it was the same stuff.

I still think the Humboldt line is great. I just lost a little faith in my Hydro guy.

Then again I hear a lot of good things about Dutch Master and they have a cool Nutrient Calculator.

IMO when you stop buying into all the fancy labels and learn to grow this plant with the right amount of N that it requires you will soon realise that you don't need things like 0-30-50 boosters to increase yields etc.

I use a base nute of 6-3-8 the whole way through veg and flower.

I use extra Ca and Mg.

Potassium Silicat

And a small hit of PK1314 at the right times.

These are what keep me above 1g/w.

Healthy happy plants is all you need for bumper yields.
