Humboldt Nurtients=Horrible Customer Service

I am just posting this to let everyone know about my experience with Humboldt Nutrients ( humboldtnutrients.com ).

I went out and purchased their entire 3 part line up with all their additives to follow their feed chart. I ended up spending like $400 on their products.

After purchasing their products, I emailed them with a couple of questions. Very simple questions such as packaging changes and whether they suggest feeding every watering or suggest a feed, water, feed type of shedule.

I waited over a week for a reply and never got one. Thinking maybe that email didn't get delivered, accidently deleted, or what ever, I sent them out another email. Once again, a week passed with no response. I have also made multiple phone calls to tech support with no answer or returned call.

I still have not got a response to either of those emails, however I did get a response to a third email. In this third email, I didn't ask any questions. I simply let them know that my other emails had not been answered and that people online were telling me I should never buy from a nutrient company that wont return emails. That email was answered in a matter of hours from Roy Gomez, the man that signs their "About Us" page on the website.

I mentioned that I figured something had happened with the first email, which I understand. I told them I wanted to let every one know what a great company they are with great service. But the email that I got in return was not something that made me feel that way.

I was told that "my threats don't scare them" and there is no need to "smear them in my little online chat hobby." There were no threats made in my email. I simply told them what other people were telling me.

I had no plans on smearing them in what they call my little hobby. As I mentioned to them, I planned on letting everyone know what a great company they were if we could get this handled. But with the way they handled things, I'm bringing it all out in the open.

I should have known better than to buy a nutrient that didn't have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. When I called to ask about a guarantee, I had to contact the sales dept because tech support never answered the phone. WHen I asked about the guarantee, they told me they are not Advanced Nutrients. I let them know that Botanicare, Fox Farms, etc all have 100% guarantees. They didn't have an answer for that.

I have not even finished one week worth of using Humboldt Nurtients products, and I will never purchase another item from them again. When I spend $5,000 a year with a company, I expect them to treat me with respect and not tell me I don't scare them and to go ahead and smear them in my little hobby.

If you want a company that actually cares about its customers, stay away from Humboldt Nutrients.

You're saying you bought $5k in nutes from them without knowing how to use them? I don't understand why anyone would do that. Oh wait, I see in your first paragraph you wrote that you spent $400. That a difference of...$4,500.00

Maybe they were just as confused about your questions as I am about your post.

You must have a pc or you wouldn't be posting here. Why didn't you go to their website and get it from there instead of bashing a company and getting bent over something that I got in less that 2 minutes?:

If you notice, I mention I am following their feed chart. So I already found that.

Does it say on there whether you should water with every watering or every other? Nope it sure doesn't.

Does it say if they changed their packaging on their Big Up Powder lately? Nope doesn't say that either.

So you didn't find the answers to my questions in less than 2 min. Should it take 2 weeks to get these questions answered? I don't think it should.

And when they finally respond, they talk about not being scared and start mentioning "my little hobby". Is this how customer service should be handled? Not in my opinion.

I have not said one bad thing about their products, just their customer service. They may have the greatest products in the world, but with service like that, I want no part of them.

And to HomegrownHairy, what attention am I looking for? Because I wanted a response from a company I just spent good money with? Try and contact them, call their 888 number and try and get in touch with tech support, email them and try and get a response. You know what I tell you, GOOD LUCK!

If you would have read my post, it says I spent like $400 on them but would be spending like $5,000 for the year. I didn't buy them not knowing how to use them, I bought them and then had some questions.

I asked about packaging changes to make sure I didn't get a "fake" or repackaged batch of Big Up Powder and I asked if they recommend feeding every watering. Most comanies put that on their website, but not Humboldt Nutrients.

If you like companies that are jsut out there to make a buck and not service their customers, go right ahead and keep buying their products. But when you have a problem or a question for them, don't forget, I TOLD YOU SO.

And mindmelted, are you talking about the same humboldt nutrients I am talking about? A lot of people call Bush Master, Purple Maxx, etc humboldt nutrients when they are Emerald Triangle nutrients and are called Humboldt County's Own. You may talking about the same nutes I am, I just want to clarify its not the makers of Bush Master that I am talking about.

I don't think he was bashing anyone, he was writing about his experience with the company.

I use these products and only have good things to say about them.

Why do you find it necessary to attack the op? Being offensive does not help anyone. If you have had a good experience with the company, why don't you try to answer the op's questions? That would be much more productive and help a fellow grower out. :leaf:

Water with every watering??? What does that even mean? You get a ppm meter and add nutes when they need it.

Does it say if they changed their packaging on their Big Up Powder lately? Nope doesn't say that either.
Who cares. Parts is parts. Companies cgange packagingf all the time.

I never said you were looking for anything. you MUST be stoned.

Well, no. I use Fox Farm and they dont post it when they change packaging

No, I need service from time to time as well. You prolly could have posted your Q on here and gottan a fast answer.

I understand why they dont want to help out consumers. They sell thru dealers and not direct. You wouldn't call FORD for a car problem, would you? Same with Humbolt. Stop bashing a good company.

I'm in soil not hydro so this is not how things work.

When you got your first "pink" $10 bill, did you question it? Same thing here, the packaging was different than what was on their website.

I never said you were looking for anything. you MUST be stoned.
My bad, that was mindmelted.

If I have a question about a bike I bought Wal-Mart, am I going to go into Wal-Mart and ask an employee there about it? No, I'm going to call the maker of the bike. Wal-Mart is a reseller not an expert on that bike.
Same with the hydro shops. They are resellers, not experts. You don't need any education or training to open a hydo shop. When I want answers about a product, I want to hear from the people who made it. Why would they put a website and phone number if they didn't want people contacting them? And you use FF, so how do you know they are a good company?

And Mindmelted, extention 420 is for tech support, the exact one I couldn't get through to. Why would it say extention 420 for service when you call, but it says tech support when I call?

And a big thank you to Dynamite

I must say I use humboldt too,
best nutes ever. I got every additive.

I just dont see why you would call them?

I mean google it,
or maybe a local hydroponics store.
Thats why they sell through dealers.

Good luck with your gardening though
