Hi i have a 70watt hps bulb with 2 70 watt hps ballasts i hooked one ballast up to a socket and it worked great got nice light but my other ballast i hooked up to a socket and for some reason the coulor spectrum isnt orange its white like a metal halide found this odd and just wondering if anyone can help

thanks ,

Are your lights/ballasts new or old/used? All HID bulbs will need to be replaced due to deterioration over time of the light spectrum they produce. If old/used it is possible that one bulb had deteriorated faster than the other or deteriorated more because it has received more use than the other.

Another factor could be if the bulbs are from a different manufacturer. I have seen new bulbs that had a visible difference from other bulbs, not dramatically but still enough that the eye could see a difference, so did you check to see if your bulbs are the same brand and model number?

i have 2 ballasts and 1 bulb and a computer light i wired the ballast to the computer light and it worked just was whitish and i took my other ballast ( both ballast same ) and wired it up to the same computer light and it was still white ballasts were used but light was new i just realized after about 10 minutes it starts to get orange just not as orange as it used to be i wonder if its the socket im using thats the only thing it could be

PS: the 70w hps lamp only has about 72 hours of use
