hps question

im a newb that vegged to long in a grow cab and was wondering if there was a minimum distance my buds need to be from my light, its a 1000w hps aircooled by a 6" inline fan 450cfm,so the light is barely warm to the touch, will it harm buds that are very close?

I think with a 1000 watt air cooled you can have it at a foot from the tops im not sure.But i keep my 400 6 inches from my tops..

If you are sucking away all that heat I would venture to guess that you can easily get 6-8" minimum altho I would probably start 14 to 16" away & slowly get closer all the while watching for burn VERY closely.

How can you ""veg too long"? You mean the plants are tall? Tie them down

The only way to tell if the lights are too close, is once it's too late. I'd keep them away from the buds, or test with some branch buds you don't mind losing. Once they burn they'll be stunted

thanks guys,its around 8-12" away and they seem to be ok, i was hoping it didnt hurt the trics.

Stick your hand under there, flat, at canopy level. You should feel "good warmth", not "real heat". If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for the plant!
