Hello everyone,

I have a few questions regarding lighting...I currently just started flowering (2 weeks ago) 5 plants under 8 CFL's (4 100 watt equiv and 4 60 watt equiv.) and 1 60watt equiv florescent tube light. I think I am really starting to notice that the lighting is insufficient when comparing my plants to other plants with people using HPS lights. I think I am planning on buying a hps light.

1. Would 250 watt be sufficient for 5 plants or should I go with a 400watt hps (I am growing in a closet).

2. Since I am growing in a closet is temp using an HPS going to be a big problem?

3. This might not be allowed on the forum so I apologize beforehand if im not allowed to do this.....

Which light system is better?

I would go with the second link that you put up, and buy the MH bulb as well because this makes a HUGE difference in veg state.

I just bought one almost identical to it off ebay and it works great, my plants have tripled since switching from cfl's to the new HID.

And definatly go with the 400w as the 250w won't be efficient for 5 plants.

Good Luck

I agree with TheSky. I got a 400watt HPS/MH light for $180 shipped and it came with a free digital timer. They sell on ebay as well.

Go for the 400w but I must say you can fit five plants under a 250w If you keep them small you can get up to about ten

400W, don't even think about the 250W only if your going to use that for veg maybe. and 400w for flower?
