hps for clones??

can i root clones under hps? i have a 2' four bulb t5 fixture but setting up another grow space is particularly daunting at the moment... i want to just set them in the same room as the mother
 
i wouldnt suggest that because A. the light might be to far away and B. it might burn the clones, try maybe getting wire shelving and hanging t5 from there
 
true, are those the only reasons..?

i mean, let's say neither one of those is a problem, ie. cooltube, would it work?
 
it being too intense was my only real concern, i start seedlings under the same veg hps and i have better results than i did when i had my t5 up.

Man dont listen to those posts.You can clone under the hps just fine.I started my grow from seedlings under a 400 watt.Ive cloned under hid and i dont see nothing wrong with doing so.So if you want to do it go ahead and do so.without a cooltube or with it.The only difference is you can bring it closer with the cooltube.
 
thanks, i needed to hear from some who had tried it. is there a difference from mh or hps? i use hps for both veg n flower
 
Mh will promote green bushy growth,short internode spacing as to with the hps it will be thick and leggy.Plenty of growers just use hps for the whole grow so theres nothing wrong with using it for both.
 
in my aerocloner i got roots after 2 weeks under a 400w mh, compared to a single t8 in 6 days. imo opinion HID is to intense for a clone or seedling that doesnt have a established root system..the plant needs to replenish water and nutes they lose too quickly from transpiration from hid lighting which is pretty hard without roots.
 
Im starting my next grow with the free autos and 4 seeds i purchased from pick n mix with a 150 hps.I will veg with 150 until the autos are done.Take clones from the fem seeds and put those under my 400 hps.

yeah, that is the best method haha, to get some bud drying when the others being flowering is a huge help as far as the wait is concerned...
