hps during veg

Has anyone used a hps during the veg cycle? I was wondering if I could pull off finishing my room with a 1000 watt hps?

I used to use HPS from start to finish.

No issues.
No excess stretching etc.

If you are going to be doing +8 week veg then consider MH.

I've only switched to MH for Veg so that I can guarantee 3 flower cycles with my hps bulbs before replacement.

I have used HPS during veg, but I typically use CFL's for the first 2 weeks, then combine them for another week or two.

1000 watts of anything is over kill for new seedlings....you can do it but a couple of 23 watt CFL's are a lot cheaper to operate

have you noticed any improvements or benefits by using MH during veg?

I have teo clones under 250w hps and they grow about a half inch a day on 18/6

I routinely incorporate hps In veg simply because i have one in my veg room along with a t5.
I bend, tie, top etc so I don't really notice any ill effects

Thanks guys I have 18 under a t5 and their about 8 inches but need more light. I only wanna veg for another 2 to 3 weeks and don't have a mh or ballast that runs a mh. It should work to run the hps.
I really appreciate you guys sharing

Yes. I don't have to buy an HPS lamp sooner.

As for plants. My veg cycle is generally under 7 weeks. Due to my feeding regimes etc I didn't notice any difference.

Like I mentioned for me it's about bulb replacement.

I like getting 3 flower cycles out of my hps.

When I used to veg with them too my bulb would only do 2 grows then need replacing.
