hi guys....just a quick question plz....

whats the best make hps 400w to get? theres lots of different makes about and range from £10 to £30 , im a bit skeptical to just think the £10 is as good as the others, so i wondered if anyone has any experience with changing bulb types/makes and seeing different results?

they all seem to have the same lumen output, but surely a cheapo one is not gonna last as long...but then theres also the point of not everythin cheap is crap, so im stuck on what to do...any help appreciated ty.

GE. Any old type of HPS (in my opinion) will work just fine. I have wasted a lot of money on conversion bulbs (MH and HPS combined), only to find that they produce fewer lumens. If there IS a difference between the HPS bulbs, I doubt the difference in yield will warrant the price differential. HID lights last a good while, but I replace mine every year anyway, because as they age, they lose output.

Hi mate. Go for the HPS Sont-T Plus (Osram Vialox) type, the extra few lumens are worth it I think. Phillips also do a Plus type bulb but I don't think it's supposed to be that good.

I have used all sorts of hps bulbs, tried all the fancy extra spectrum ones and all that shit and I have never seen any real difference. I would go with the one you can get the best price on

I concur..............

thanks guys
i think ill go with whats i currently have which is a sylvania. i looked at the sunmasters but couldnt find much info on comparing them.

Sunmasters are generally a dual spectrum bulb. They have an extra element int he tube that helps them put out over 96,000 lumens, a son-t for example is around 90,000 lumens for a 600W. These extra lumens are in the blue spectrum, meaning you can veg as well as flower with them. I can't recommend them highly enough, especially if you only use them for flower and use something like a T5HO for veg.
