i was in home depot and came across some 70 watt hps bulbs for 30 bucks each. was wondering if they would work or if i would be better to just use CLF's and how many i would need to veg/flower 6 plants?
HPS bulbs at home depot. will they work?

only 70 watts noooooo....... if u wana a great grow put 500 and get a nice 400w or something if u want a small good grow for under 100 bcusk go cfls......

Not sure about the 70 but in know the 150's even with the samll base need a ballast. Done a few with the 150 before but if you got the room invest in something bigger. Or every harvest your gonna want to upgrade. I've spent more money on lights over the years.
not by themselves. you need additional hardware for them to operate (ballast, reflector, mogul)

How true about upgrading. I started with a 250 hps with a homemade ballast someone gave me and within a couple months got my first 400 hps then my second one less then a year later. Then of course the next thing had to be an air cooled 600. And it goes on and on but the more light the more bud and we all love more bud.

there made as replacement lights for the security light houseings. they use mh and hps for the lighting color reasons there so little wattage. altho cleaning up my work i found two complete 1000watt light sets 2 220v sun master ballest's 2 hydro farms air cooled hoods one with a 1000watt mh light and one with 1000watt hps light. there just a little dusty. im gunna ask my boss if i can get them off his hands, or just bring some black garbage bags to work soon. all i know is i must get my hands on them..... he told me a story of how he gets stuff like that free all the time because one of our contractors we do construction for happens to be a huge dea building. thats just stuff we find in the dumpster there i guess.. trust me i had one hell of a day at work once i found these and then found 7 2foot by 2foot cfl hoods all prewired with bulbs but just dusty as hell.
