HPS 400Watt Too close???

I have a question, If HEAT is not an issue, HOW close can you have a 400w hps to your plants.

10to12inchs is where mine was the closer they r the hotter it will b what setup r u doing to cool it off

as a rule of thumb. what you do is put your hand just above your plant . when you lower your light if you can handle the heat from your light your plant can too. if its too hot rase your light till its conforable.you have to do this as your plant grows every time you adjust the light to the hight of your plant.gl may you be cursed with many buds.

id say 12 inches or 10, just make sure your light stays cool

I'm going to use a completely isolated cool tube design. There should be no heat issues. I'm basically wondering about light intensity. But the hand method should work good for that i guess....

watch for bleaching of the leaves and adjust
