How "wet" does SS need to be? Can I cover it?

Damp, not soaking.
I keep mine in a large plastic trash can & it stays covered "Most" of the time. I open it up daily or so to allow it to breath.

My soil is Moist but still feels like dirt and crumbles and stuff but if I squeeze it, it will hold a ball. Is that good?

I don't mean to start any interweb arguement here, but I believe that leaving some leaf on while it's hanging actually improves tthe smell and taste by slowing down the drying process. I like to remove fan leaves and hang with sugar leaves intact, then ttrim them off before jarring.

That said, I'll be doing a full wet trim this round so I can make some higher quality bubble hash :)

Its all personal experience and what works for you. I prefer getting it all done at once. On a scientific level the more Leaf you trim off the less chance you have of chlorophyll seeping into your flowers and giving that green hayish flavor to them.

And not taken as one :). A friendly debate is just fine.

I guess from my readings (and limited experience) the longer the initial hang dry takes, the longer that chlorophyll has to degrade (a process that requires some moisture, I believe). I'm not sure whether or not any "seepage" occurs.
