how to use chicken shit?

My friend has a chicken farm so he has tons of chicken shit i could use. But how exactly would i use it, do i just mix it in with the soil at the start of the grow or what?

I would let it age a bit first, let it sit out for a few weeks atleast. I would add a couple cups of chicken shit to the whole I would be planting in, and use it in a compost tea.

chicken manure must be composted first as it is considered too hot for plants. It is very rich in N-P-K and is very desireable for gardeners. You'll need to start a compost pile with no meats in it, just vegetative waste and chicken manure and soil layers.

Good info. I have chickens and wondered how to make use of the fertilizer laying around. I pay up to $15 for a bag of soil so info on alternates is good. Can you just pile up the chicken poop or does it have to be mixed with something to compost it.

I've used it in vegetable garden with super results. I just tilled it in with the soil. And as mentioned earlier. A little goes a long way. You can burn the plants with it. I was having good results with it in an outdoor grow in the late 70's but plants were ripped off before harvest.

Just compost it first with some leaves and veggies, it is a great fertilizer. I have burned my plants before when using it raw.

How long should i compost is for?

I think your suppose to compost for a few months atleast.

Compost until it looks like nice rich soil.
