Hey all. Thought I'd share a little trick of the trade. Sometimes we're stuck not being able to move our cuttings from point A to point B without damaging them. Say from a friends house to you're own house or from an outdoor garden that may be some distance away to a garden inside or adjacent to your home. Been there and while it is always easier to bring your tools with you sometimes this isn't possible or we forget
. All you need is a water bottle like the one shown below or something similar and some clean, cool water. I like to use tap water when available because it has been treated to limit the presence of bacteria and such. The water bottle shown is also convenient because the top can be removed.
1. Clean water bottle (even if it has just been sitting in the cabinet)
2. Fill with water. Spring water, Tap water. Try and avoid outdoor water sources like ponds or rivers.
3. Take your cutting and immediately place in the bottle of water. These bottles are also convenient because the lid can be opened and cuttings may be slid right in.
4. Transport to your preparation table.
Try to get your cuttings home as soon as possible. Don't toss them if you forget and leave them out all night though - they've still been known to root.
