how to tell what seed is good and what seed is bad

i recently bought a bag off of my friend and it was good weed and i looked through it and luckly i found two seeds. one seed is small and black and the other seed is big and white i was wondering if i can grow both seeds or no

Try and germinate both. Worst case it doesn't sprout-- nothing gained, nothing lost. At least then you'd know for sure that it was no good. Good luck, cheers.

Ive always went with the tiger stripe theory. Got a chance to look at some of joint doctors fem. seeds, they were mature (brown, not the tan color) but not one stripe.

I don't know what the stripes mean.

seeds with the tiger stripes are usually mature and good to use but not all strains produce seeds with those markings. some seeds will be plain brown or dark green when they are mature. i have grown great plants from seeds that were small, seeds that were big, seeds with stripes, seeds without. different strains will have different types of seeds. usually white or light green seeds are immature. when i am picking seeds i do the squish test. it's very very high tech and it works like this: the seed should not crush easily between your thumb and forefinger or it's a dud. it really shouldn't crush if you squish it on a hard surface like a table, either. some people do the sink test. they put the seeds in a cup of water and the ones that sink are supposed to be bad. honestly with this last batch i did the sink test and they all germed, even the 1 that sank. to be fair i did not keep track of what happened to the seed in the grow so it still could have been a dud but i'm not convinced about that method. i stick to the visuals and the squish test.

edit: when i say "squish" i don't mean "attempt to destroy". just wanted to clarify that.
