How to start from seed with Aeroponics

Hello fellow aero lovers, I decided to try something I'd never done before. The results follow.
My cloner/ seed starter. For this process I used plain distilled water.

I use 2" netpots, and 2" neoprene inserts. I didn't pre soak the seeds, just put them right in the neoprene.

I pushed the seed down to where it isn't going to fall out.
20180816_183402[1].jpg20180816_183439[1].jpg I then sat it seed side down in the netpot.

The most important step: You have to make sure your netpot with the seed goes into a hole that will receive lots of mist when the sprayers are on.

The next day:

Two days later. After the root was about 1", I then carefully removed the seed and repositioned it like so:
It is very easy to accidentally snap the root off, be very careful.

Very nice!

I forget where, but I saw a post where someone did something similar in an HPA setup. The big difference was they attached some coco mat (I think) under the foam puck insert. They also made an open hole in the center of the puck to drop the seed into so that it sat on the mat on the bottom side of the puck. The hole in the puck allows the seedling to grow up out of the puck without having to move it or risk the root.

Tested and proven to work in AA too

I do it without repositioning the seed and it works that way too as long as they’re not held in too firmly by the collar. I don’t have to use netpots in this new cloner I have.

I also cut a cone shape in collars before and put a seed in that tap root down and it works as well. But you still have to move it to a regular collar.

I use a pair of tweezers to pick them up. Isn’t it fun when you’re trying to get a sprout into a collar and it falls? Good times lol
