How to set up mulit pot ebb and flow ... appx 36 pots

I'm going to be setting up a 36 site set up using a multi pot ebb and flow system. I'm running around the whole internet looking for a system but some things don't add up. I just want to make sure i have a big enough water reservoir and controller to handle it. i only found 1 site that sells a set up with 36 pots with 3.5g but with a 55g for water. What would be the best way to set up 36-48 pots.
 
If your running 2 gal pots with hydroton each pot takes roughly 1 gal of water. So for 36 pots you need at least 55 gal res at minimum. In heavy flower you will need to add more water every 3 days.
 
I'm going to be using three and a half gallon pots... I just want to make sure the reservoir can handle the amount of water and the controller as well... I've heard a few different things from different shops that I've called and have not got a definite answer... Some people say the controller will work some people that it will not and I'm going to need a second one to divide up the system...

Hook up your system with just one bucket. Fill it with your desired medium. Flood it and then unhook the hose and kink it. Measure the amount of water in the bucket and you will know how much each bucket holds. Do the math after that.
 
There is no reason in this type of system to run anything bigger than 2 gallon pots. I run a 36 site 2 gallon pot system . 18 each on their own rez . Yes you can run all 36 on one rez but like mentioned above you will be back filling daily in flower . I need to back fill every three days with just 18 on its own rez . Plus if you run two rez ' s you can run at least two strains. A 55 gal rez all so holds around 65 gallons. Controller size is irrelevant .
 
All so you only need two controllers if you use two rez ' s . You can actually run 48 two gallon sites off of one rez and controller all though I would not advise it unless you want to back fill and fuck with PH and EC daily.

Thanks guys im starting to get a better understanding ..... i want to run only 1 rez so i was thinking to go maybe 80g

so just to clarify TWS you have 2 rezs and 2 controllers ... each going to 18 sites...i was also thinking to upgrade to 80 g rez , use 1 controller and have a 2nd rez with ro water to pull from when needed...

Yes. And that would work all so . Just remember , variety is the spice of life . Lol it will help your market. I have run different compatible strains on one rez but you need to know who grows well together. Flower timing and stretch for the most part . Most strains seem to feed about or close enough to each other . I generally never feed higher than 1.2-4 EC on everything. The only thing that gets funky is og's want a lot of magnesium and stretch like a mofo. Not good on the same rez as indicas. And indicas feed stronger than most sativas. I don't grow pure sativas though . Take to long.

awesome setup! Just curious the room... lights?, room size? Co2?

Ive seen some multi flow systems that advertise as oxygenated....is this the same or is some kind of air stone added? should i put an air stone in my rez

I ran across a few threads and found some good "hacks" that could have possible ruined my whole

....Things like raising the buckets above controller, adding a few inches inside so top pot is raised a bit higher, also about 1/2 line maybe slowing the fill and drain time making plaints stay in water for longer times....

im going to run 36-48 plants and just use a 100 gal res in

Also i noticed some of the ebb and grow systems have pots that only look like they have holes in the bottom, some have them all the way around...seems like the roots wont fits through as easily...

Anything else i might have missed.
 
Raising the sites is a good thing. Raising the flood pot inside is not needed. 1/2" line works fine . Holes in the bottom of flood pot works fine. The cap system only has holes in the bottom.
