How to Scrog with DWC? Multiple opinions wanted!

I have been a long time scrogger with coco since the start I have changed the type of wood I have used multiple times in order to still be able to get my watering can under the screen.

Ever since seeing DWC I have considered leaving coco and doing a bubble run I want to be able to screen though and don't see how I will be able to lift the net pot up and change my reservoir if the plant is being scrogged at the same time. I have seen many great tutorials on this, shout out to VoidObject for your post it was very informative you made it sound nice and simple.

Anyways, I have not seen a thread where someone has actually asked how one would pull off a DWC scrog hoping I can get a multitude of opinions on the matter. Another shout out to bluberry for trying to explain how he used an external res that pumped to his res under his screen I just don't understand all the small little nick knacks that the system involves it seems like I need to study the plumbing section in home depot to get a grip on the subject :eyesmoke:

Thanks all!

very clever indeed I just wish I could talk to some of these guys in person and learn their ways much easier that way

I've tried about all the ways of doing it and still the easiest i have found is a simple pond pump (10 bucks at harbor freight) drop it in and empty bucket reverse to fill dont get any easier.and i also pull my screen about 4 weeks into budding and try to get some light to the lower buds.

The one of the whole purposes of scrogging is to keep an even canopy and eliminate the growth below the screen where the plant is just wasting energy.
uh yeah i am aware of that also aware that it gets so dense that only the very top of buds get light i have almost doubled my yeilds my way but go ahead and think you know it all.the pic was taken tonight just a small plant i pulled from scrog to let the light in.

yeah but notice he didn't get shit for yield.trick to scrog is to fill every square inch of space and it is very labor intensive meaning almost daily you willl have to give haircut and train shoots into place, after this being done getting to and moving your buckets becomes almost impossible the small pond pump will be your friend but if you must learn the hard way :bigjoint:

lol if you read the posts you would have noticed i stated that the strain was not a friendly one for scrog and i wouldnt say 1/2 lb out of that tiny space and a 400w is all that "bad" ether, but im sure your yields are much better lol. this little cab was built for fun i run another op that takes up a majority of my free time:) i can literally take my buckets out and clean them as need be no pond pump is going to do that for me. the easiest way IMO to do a scrog is with RDWC and call it good never have to move plants or sites just fill and drain with a seperate res not under the screen and all you have to have is some 1/2-3/4" tubing connecting them to a control bucket. its not rocket science i would rather have a control bucket to work with then fishing a pond pump in every bucket:)

Just don't do res changes. I don't I just keep topping off alternating plain water and nutes

I personally don't like doing that, I like to clean my equipment. I have run full flower cycles with just add backs and it works but if there is a problem and I have to run a mid way flush I can do that with ease. Sometimes things go wrong and I like to be on top of it just in case.

yes but rdwc is not quite the same as dwc yeah it's nice to have a control bucket but in a lot of spaces there just isn't room for one .including my own.when growng in a tight space moving plants gets hard especially with a screen in the way.and all them lines are just another chance of leaks "imo"also not good for some growers like second story apts.with my pump once i got the water mostly emptied out removing the bucket to clean is much easier, always more than one way of doing something.

i understand that and that is the reason i built my system the way it is. i think calling somebodies idea's and most of all there yields "shit" is crap when you dont read the posts! maybe you did read and just chose to phrase your words that way. i will have you know i have hit close to 2 lb's a 1kw light without a screen or co2 so i will say again "i built this for fun" and im sure it works great (which i will prove on only my second run with it). im not trying to be rude at all and have not looked at your grows, but i wouldnt talk about someone elses grow in the manner you did.

happy growing and good day to you sir:)

well that's funny because it says here it's a 400 watt and here's the pic i was responding to (your saying you got 2 lbs off another setup which i did not comment on wasn't being rude just stating a fact that in this pic a lot of space was being wasted and yur yields could have been much higher .:fire: https://www.rollitup.org/dwc-bubbleponics/518584-400w-dwc-mini-scrog-2.html

I run a 6 site DWC with a reservoir. So technically it's anRDWC setup. Once the SCROG gets put in to place I don't / can't access each bucket. I make all my changes from the reservoir. I use a water chiller at 62 degrees and add 1/2 cup of H2O2 each week. I've never had issues with root rot and have seen about a 20-30% increase in yields using a SCROG. Although it is a lot more work.

My reservoir changes are done by using a wet/dry shop vac and sucking out the water from the reservoir. It takes about 10mins to accomplish.

Those elbows pointing up form a upper rail to tie off colas. I drilled holes in the frame to weave string through to act as the screen.

The screen is mounted to the lids with 1/4x20 nylon nuts and bolts with neoprene washers to prevent light leaking in. The frame is made of 1/2 cpvc. Each screen cost $10 to make buying the bolts and nuts in 2 packs at HD. There is a plastic website that sells a box of 50 for like $10 plus shipping. That would get the screens cheaper.

I have a detailed parts list and cut sizes in my dwc to perpetual thread. On phone so it would be tough to find it.

Good thinf about this screen is no metal parts. None of the cpvc is glued so I can take it apart easily. And the screen I just cut out and replaced. String is cheap.
