Looking for the cheapest bootleg ghetto way to get some clones rooting well. Dont want to use hydro or pumps etc. Looking for a way to grow them in soil or plugs.

-take cutting WITH A STERILE TOOL
-dip in rooting hormone (use your preferred method)
-wrap in clonex solution soaked t-shirt strip
-put cutting on lid of large CLEAR fountain soda cup
-put cup onto lid/ over cutting (making a humidity dome)
-ghetto dome goes to warm well lit area (13watt cfl should be enough for 1 cup)

I don't clone like this, but have seen it work like this...
Open the cup for a couple minutes once or twice a day for air exchange

Is it possible to just cut clone, dip in clonex, and plant directly into some happy frog soil and water in? And get a light on it of course. If so, would I still need to cover it with a dome for humidity? How about a heat mat under the soil cup with clone inside? i find that if I keep thr root zone warm for seeds the germinate faster. So would it make clones root faster? The heat mat also creates natural humidity if the cup is covered. I guess I mainly want to know if the clones can go straight into a light airy perlite ammended soil.

I don't think it matters what medium you clone in too much, everyone has their preferred methods. A friend of mine always cuts and puts into soil without perlite or anything else in there or gel on the stem cut or anything special. Biggest factor for me would be to make sure your humidity levels were high and don't let the medium dry out and then be patient

I take the cuttings, dip in rooting powder and put them in a solo cup full of soil. I have done 2 sets of clones. First set I had 45 and lost 1. They had started rooting when I checked on day 14. Some of those I had put in a soil cube then into the solo cup of soil. The rest I just used soil. Really was no difference at all. This last group I did was just straight soil. I did 30 clones. They are on day 23 now. I checked roots on day 11 and they were already some big thick roots. Haven't lost any s far. I am a newbie and always looking for new things to try!
