How to Fall into War

Does anyone see what is happening in Iraq? 200 more advisers, just sent. We are pushing 1000 now, + the Exec.'s Private Army of 10,000 US Mercenaries. Yep, that is what you call them. You! Young guy! Hold your hat. There was not much draft before Viet Nam. Mostly volunteer. This is how wars are fallen into., It goes quietly, until a General Draft is announced. It happened to a lot of us here, me in 1970, when I left college to PROTEST~!!! I lost my exempt.

So, just watch how the Democrats do this. They are not peaceful, just more sneaky. It is why I fought them in the streets. Just wait. We are ahead of the timeline here. It is going pretty fast. Pants caught down again. Whoever is the next President will own this shit-bag, not Obama.

January 20, 1961- John Fitzgerald Kennedy is inaugurated as the 35th U.S. President and declares "...we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to insure the survival and the success of liberty." Privately, outgoing President Eisenhower tells him "I think you're going to have to send troops..." to Southeast Asia.

The youthful Kennedy administration is inexperienced in matters regarding Southeast Asia. Kennedy's Secretary of Defense, 44-year-old Robert McNamara, along with civilian planners recruited from the academic community, will play a crucial role in deciding White House strategy for Vietnam over the next several years.

May 1961 - Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson visits President Diem in South Vietnam and hails the embattled leader as the 'Winston Churchill of Asia.'

May 1961 - President Kennedy sends 400 American Green Beret 'Special Advisors' to South Vietnam to train South Vietnamese soldiers in methods of 'counter-insurgency' in the fight against Viet Cong guerrillas.

Fall - The conflict widens as 26,000 Viet Cong launch several successful attacks on South Vietnamese troops. Diem then requests more military aid from the Kennedy administration.

October 1961 - To get a first-hand look at the deteriorating military situation, top Kennedy aides, Maxwell Taylor and Walt Rostow, visit Vietnam. "If Vietnam goes, it will be exceedingly difficult to hold Southeast Asia," Taylor reports to the President and advises Kennedy to expand the number of U.S. military advisers and to send 8000 combat soldiers.

October 24, 1961 - On the sixth anniversary of the Republic of South Vietnam, President Kennedy sends a letter to President Diem and pledges "the United States is determined to help Vietnam preserve its independence..."

President Kennedy then sends additional military advisors along with American helicopter units to transport and direct South Vietnamese troops in battle, thus involving Americans in combat operations. The number of military advisers sent by Kennedy will eventually surpass 16,000.

December 1961 - Viet Cong guerrillas now control much of the countryside in South Vietnam and frequently ambush South Vietnamese troops. The cost to America of maintaining South Vietnam's sagging 200,000 man army and managing the overall conflict in Vietnam rises to a million dollars per day.

So sad, you will get fooled again.

Just to clarify, are you saying the draft didn't exist until vietnam?

As in we didn't have one at all until the early 60's?

We still have it. And interwar, after Korea we still had. We always have it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conscription_in_the_United_States
In the only extended period of military conscription of U.S. males during a major peacetime period, the draft continued on a more limited basis during the late 1950s and early 1960s. While a far smaller percentage of eligible males were conscripted compared to war periods, draftees by law served in the Army for two years. Elvis Presley and Willie Mays were two of the most famous people drafted during this period.

-------------------------

So, to clarify. Not enough wanted to sign up after Korea, some were still forced. But, then a more General Draft was brought to bear.

There is still the Selective Service and you still must register.

WHO MUST REGISTER

Almost all male U.S. citizens, and male immigrants living in the U.S., who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service. It's important to know that even though he is registered, a man will not automatically be inducted into the military. In a crisis requiring a draft, men would be called in sequence determined by random lottery number and year of birth. Then, they would be examined for mental, physical and moral fitness by the military before being deferred or exempted from military service or inducted into the Armed Forces.

A chart of who must register is also available.

NON-CITIZENS
Some non-citizens are required to register. Others are not. Non-citizens who are not required to register with Selective Service include men who are in the U.S. on student or visitor visas, and men who are part of a diplomatic or trade mission and their families. Almost all other male non-citizens are required to register, including undocumented immigrants, legal permanent residents, and refugees. The general rule is that if a male non-citizen takes up residency in the U.S. before his 26th birthday, he must register with Selective Service. For a more detailed list of which non-citizens must register, see Who Must Register - Chart .

Stand down, Medic. I stood for the draft, was not selected and took part in getting your sorry asses home.

Keep away old man, you won't fool me
You and your history won't rule me
You might have been a fighter, but admit you failed
I'm not affected by your blackmail
You won't blackmail me

I've got my clipboard, text books
Lead me to the station
Yeah, I'm off to the civil war
I've got my kit bag, my heavy boots
I'm runnin' in the rain
Gonna run till my feet are raw

Slip kid, slip kid, slip out of trouble
Slip over here and set me free
Slip kid, slip kid, second generation
You're slidin down the hill like me
No easy way to be free
No easy way to be free
No easy way to be free

Wait a minute, I thought you "fought them in the streets".....oh.....my bad.......that was just some typical pussy bullshit talk, wasn't it?

My apologies for interfering with your fantasies.

So your confrontational PTSD event aside, I excuse you since you are so deep into it, that only if I got hit by an AK, and you saved me, does that count as fighting.

So, getting your head busted and tossing back the tear gas, with your shirt to protect your hand is not fighting? And holding a major state route intersection for 2 days, in Gainsville with barricades, we build out of bike racks, against a police riot, isn't either?

Sure, I see. We should have just stayed indoors and left you guys out in the jungle. I guess you had a lot fun. I didn't get a Purple Heart. I just got a baton to eye. Lots of there, Medic. I did kill anyone, but I popped some cop in the jaw for what I saw him do. That's not fighting.

And there was no fighting at Kent State. Just a massacre, like Mi Lai, right? What about the Police Riot in Chicago at the Democrat National Convention? No fighting there of course.

You really are a tough guy I guess. Is that what you mean?

You big, you strong. Did you even bother to frag an Lt? Or did you just follow orders?

Our entire military is now a mercenary force, just like Carthage was.

not a new war.....................ENDLESS WAR.
they don't need a draft. small groups of highly-trained killers, backed by "Shock and Awe." lasers hit the battle-field ........in our lifetimes. watch.

I saw a video on ISIS the other day. ISIS is trying to take control of the Levant. Israel, Palestine, Syria and Iraq to create a Islamic State ruled by Shria law. ISIS is a largely Sunni group that is killing Shia. Long standing enemies the U.S. and Iran are in talks. The U.S. wants Iran to become embroiled in a mostly Sunni/Shia conflict because Ethnically Iran in 90 percent Shia.

The central divide in the two Ethnicities may be the very match that lights a major conflict in the Middle East.

Most people do not know that the only large difference between the Sunni and Shia is literally how the successor of Muhammad should have been chosen 1400 years ago.

the Oligarchs would love that. we'd be sprayed with gas like we were insects. wipe out the real rabble-rousers. the truth is.....we want to be slaves. if not, it would end tomorrow. just go sit in the street, and say....."no." get about 35% of the population to join you, and the state would fall. tomorrow. when the police come, and tell you to disperse, say...."no." then they will say.....your are under arrest. go limp. be carried away; by 4 of them ;). and fill the jails. be polite. no fighting. the end of the state.

many on here worry that without a state, we would eat each other. maybe we would. maybe we'd work it out :)
