How to Crop?

Sorry for my ignorance on such matters, but I really need help...:-?

First off I should tell you Ive got three Females (First time grower).

Im almost 2 weeks into budding and the buds near the bottom of my plants are far behind in development, they need more light. The higher large leaves make it impossable for any light to hit the lower buds.

I need to know what kind of leave's to cut off and what ones to stay away from.

Oh and should I use a razor? or would some sharp scissors work?

Thx for any and all help,

DO not cut off leaves!!!

Other options.

1. Clone the lower branches
2. Remove lower foliage
3.add more lights... Compact Fluorescents will work great without adding significant heat. Keep the cfls less than 1 inch from your foliage.

ALL healthy green fan leaves are needed to perform photosynthesis!!

Knowm; I chopped all my fan leaves below the last set of fan leaves which in turn are below the lowest branches. I thought that the other fan leaves were excess to production so we lopped them off. I really believed that each twin branch only needed the set of fan leaves just below them to photosynthesise. Everything seems okay, the plants are budding nicely.

Hi SKUNK..

It won't kill the plant.. but it won't help it either....
If light can not penetrate to a certain "level" then remove all the foliage in that area...better yet.. turn those branches into clones...

Just taking off the fan leaves is a NO NO.. The fan leaves will die when they don't get adequate light to be benificial to the plant...

Phew. Good job another reason I removed them is because they weren't receiving adequate light. These were the only clones we took, along with a few that were thrown away. We dried and smoked the buds off the ones that were thrown away. We could have done with going up a couple of levels on our two lanky plants, but we've solved this problem by tying them up. They are a whole foot taller than the other plants and now look considerably bushier, hopefully those lower branches will bud right to the stem. Plus by generally bringing the lower branches closer to the light you are giving them easier opportunity for growth.
