WoW! Cool bro; thanks for the pictures. I've cloned & rooted 50+ cutlings, but I never understood what people meant by the cutting a "slit" at the bottom of the stem. Thank you for the illustration +ReP

I have only been growing for 2 years.\ When I started I picked up The growers bible by Jorge Cervantes and within 90 days I was growing like a pro. Well not like I am now but every plant was bigger and better.

I bought that book last summer and read it back to back several times over a period of a week. TONS of information. I still go back and look things up from time to time. It answers about 75% of the questions we all asked when we started out.

So i know you said plants need to be at least two months old to clone, I have an affy, it's two months now but really short, under a foot, the nodes are really really close together, I wanna clone this plant but am uncertain where to cut and if I can do it when its this small, at the bottom there are a couple really small branches that are definitely not gettin the light needed, can I cut these off and clone em? Here she is.........

I've been told its good when the plant is bushy like this but, how to clone it?
Also, i know they look a bit sickly, the clones where busted when i first got em and have been nursing them back to health for the past month, they are doin much better, the pics don't do them justice, but thats why you see yellow undergrowth, all the new leaves are beautiful green!

Start from the growing tip of any branch go down below at least one node and snip. You can do this any place on the plant you like, main stem, branches, side branches etc. You just have to make sure you have at least 1 complete node as well as the growing tip. I've found larger clones usually root faster, but there may come a size that is too big.

the problem is the nodes are literally less than an eight of an inch apart, how much stem is needed for it to root properly. if I was to cut a piece off that was 1" in length it would have between 5- 8 nodes, so do I just clip the leaves of the bottom 4-7 and just leave the top, or is there a certain distance that the stem needs to go into for it to root effectively, sorry for all the questions, obviously im new to it! Thanks

I did my first cloning about three weeks ago. I really didn't do half the stuff talked about in the article, but it still turned out great. Did I experience growth as quickly? No. But so what? I still have female clones.
Sometimes when we have maximum information it over complicates the basics.
Don't get me wrong, it's great information...and if you want to be an "expert" cloner; this article will help you get there--no doubt.
But if you are just a hobbyist (like myself), there is no need to get all the heat pads and other toys.
Cut...dip...plant and dome. Mist and keep humidity up.
That's all there is to it. (Although gentics plays a role)
