step 1...amps x volts = watts
step 2...watts/1000 = kilowatts or kw
step 3...hours used in month
step 4...kilowatts x hours used = kilowatt hours or kwh
step 5...electricity price ( in pence per kwh ) this should be found at the bottom of your bill i pay 15p can be used as an average
step 6...kwh x electricity price = cost in pence to run item for 1 month
step 7...divide by 100 to get cost in £ to run item for 1 month
step 8... x by number of items you are using
example...based on a 250w hps on a 18/6 schedule for 1 month where cost of electricity is 15p (this is expensive yours is probs less)
step 2...250/1000 = 0.25
step 3...540
step 4...0.25x540 = 135
step 5...15p
step 6...135x15 = 2025
step 7...2025/100 = £20.25
step 8...x how ever many lights you have
in this case there is only one 250w hps so the cost to run it for one month is roughly £20.25p hope this is helpful to someone peace out and happy toking
