HOW TO: Blower fan + Thermostat

home depot has a plug in thermostat i read a thread and they talked about the duct fans and the thermostats were sold in the same area
Its not going to be as easy as you might think.
Thermostats are set to run on 12 or 24 volts. Your blower is 110v. This means your going to need a transformer to convert your current to run the thermostat and a relay to switch the fan on and off. If your trying to cool things down the thermostat will need an AC setting but if your trying to bring in warmer air than heat only is fine. If the second option is what you want then you can buy what you need at home depot all ready to go. If its option one you want though I havent seen anything off the shelf that will work.

Why not invest in a horticulture controller? You can use it to cycle the exhaust based on time as well as temp. They will also shut down any exhaust fans when the CO2 equipment turns on. Even if you don't have CO2 yet, the basic controllers without CO2 meters aren't that expensive and gives you more options with room to grow.

Instead of just an on/off for the fan, it will slow down or speed up, great for those loud squirrel cage blowers that don't always need to be run full speed to get out the heat/humidity.

cool phuk that looks nice, but that model does not allow you to turn the fan off completely. If I were to spend money on a serious controller I would like it to control many things as you say. Although I agree the one you found is fairly cheap it only controls fan speed.
Phuk or anyone else know of a good controller under $400? Those nice ones at the store sell for around $700-$1500 I noticed. not worth it.
