How to achieve 4 main stems?

I am a fairly new grower, I've grown hydroponically in the past but I'm going to be Growing one Plant in soil inside under just a 300W CFL bulb mainly out of experimentation but I want to achieve a very bushy plan with many colas and try to get a few ounces! I want a huge main stem with 4 main branches splitting off right at the trunk. How is the achieved? Do I top it normally, fimm top it? I will be using some LST on it once I get the 4 main shoots developed in order to spread the plant out more so light reach more colas. I drew a lame diagram below to demonstrate. Any advice? I think fimming is the answer but not sure. Thanks

Fimming a marijuana plant
Fimming is actually no different that topping, what fimming does is virtually the exact same thing only your leaving part of the new growth. This only takes of part of the new growth and actually topping the very very new growth which is very hard to see.
What this ends up doing is making it seem as if your getting 4 new tops right next to eachother when its actually only 2 at the very top (like topping) but since it was cut so closely to the next newest set of fanleaves 2 branches which would have formed there anyways seems to make it look like there is 4 new tops. Fimming can be easily performed on sativas (or any hybrids of sativa cannabis seeds crosses) as they tend to grow longer and less dense stems, which is usefull for such precise procedure.
This is how you go about doing this.
1. Locate the very top of the new growth1st

Cannabis420, thanks that helped, I've seen a few diagrams online as well but that was a little more thorough.

BettaBudda, so essentially when my young plant has about 3 sets of true leaves then I can top it? Also, you're just saying "Top" it, does that mean cut the new growth all the way off at the stem like a normal top, or are you talking about fimm topping it?
