How soon should I put them under lights?

Hey all  I have learned so much just from your posts I wanted to thank you but I have a question that i can't find the answer to. I have 2 seeds that have germinated and I have put them into soil. One of them has broken the top of the soil and I was wondering, do I put her under lights now? And also I'm pretty sure I should keep the lights close but I need reassurance LOL. Any help will be SOoooooo appreciated. I'm sure this info is somewhere on the site here but I'll be damned if I can find it lol. :eyesmoke:

yeah just put on the lights, but not too close yet. once the green shows, you want those leaves to see light.

Excellent!!! Thank you  Just one more question that I just remembered lol. Is there a certain lighting schedual I should be following in these tender times? This being my first "real" grow I think it best that I follow the guidance of Vets :blsmoke:

Just keep under cfl's about 3/4 " away..I did an experiment with mine, 1/2 in sun..1/2.. cfl. The cfls were 50% bigger in 3 days, and at 6 are getting their 3rd set of fan leaves..I also rotate the sun weaklings into the "SPA" for a couple of days, as ultimatly I'm growing outside this yr. so far.....
Good Luck....:):)

depends how much fluoro power you have, but 3/4" can be too close at that age, i've found. your plants will let you know if that's the case.

i would run 24/0 on seedlings, but either that or 18/6 are both fine.

Thank ya much man!!! If these turn out to be a good start for me I'm gonna name my first bud after ya bro!!!

Well just in one day my one sprout is standing tall with the husk of the seed still on top, looks like a little hat LOL  It has been 4 days from germination to the little bugger poppin up!!! I am going to keep close track of the days and I'm going with the 24/0 like ceestyle suggested. My next question in preparation is this.. How much time should pass before the next phase? Is there a sign of growth I should keep my eyes peeled for? Or is it a time thing? I was figuring 3 weeks then move it to a bigger pot but want to be 100% sure before i do it so not to cause too much stress from the transplant. I'm also pretty sure that the light schedule will also change at that time? God, I hate to ask ask and ask some more but I just moved not long ago to a new state and I have no "friends" so grow grow grow I must LOL:mrgreen: Oh!!! I will also post pics of the baby and its progress, if I ever find the cable for my camera

unless they're in some tiny-ass pots, you can wait quite a while before repotting. depending on how large you wish to grow them before flowering - and on the size of the pot they're in - you may decide to wait until you sex them.
