How severe does pain have to be to qualify?

Strained my knee. Went to dr 6 weeks later when it still hurt; nothing wrong with it. Went back 4 weeks later. Went to physical therapy 1 week later, and now starting 3 times a week.

I don't feel like I need physical therapy at this point. It still hurts, and is preventing me from running or doing anything that could potentially injure it again. It's painful when I twist or tweak it, but not so bad I can't stand it. My main concern is that this slight pain is a warning and if I don't heed it and baby my knee I could have a fucked up knee for the next 50 years - which I don't want. So I can put a heating pad on it, do pt exercises at home, and just don't do anything extreme with it because I don't want to pay for 3 pt office visits a week (talk about racking up some bills!).

Will this alone qualify for a mm card? And will i have to play it up for the dr and say it's terribly painful and I can't sleep or function without some kind of medication? Or will my real explanation suffice? Or should I go somewhere in the middle?

yes, also depends on the doctor.

I have real back problems, but went to the doc at the liberty clinic in Ann-arbor, hell I could have said my dick hangs a little to the left and he would have signed it, on the real thou, it was a real easy experience. I told him the truth, that I have a constant pain in my lower back with mild muscle spasms and had no problems with the doc.

if you have seen a doctor for your pain then you are gravy. trust me. go to any mmj clinic and ask to see a doc, they will ask for your records. fax them in and they will setup an appt for you. it costs between 100 and 300 bucks. liberty clinic or thcf are the two at the top of my head.

Can you specifically ask for the $100 plan as opposed to the $300 one? :)

i signed the medical release form from my drs office and dropped it off with the address and fax number of a reputable clinic (thcf). they charge $25 to release my medical records to me, or they will fax them to another dr for free, so im having them fax them. its my understanding that once the clinic receives my records a dr will review it, then if i qualify they will call me to set up an appointment.

...so now im just waiting for my phone to ring.

im not concerned about the cost of the visit or getting the card. i have a feeling if i can grow legally i will end up far ahead :)

You might want to call THCF in a few days to make sure they got it. I tried getting a recommendation from them last year, but for whatever reason the doctor said there wasn't a positive test result or something. That was before I got the x-rays of my back...

tried getting my the recommendation through THCF southfield for epilepsy, they declined due to "sending the records to a doctor at u of m, and he refused to recommend it". which is absolutely ridiculous as the epilepsy is a life long well documented case of petit and grand mals, albeit well controlled on pharmaceuticals. either way, someone pointed me in the direction of tel-ford walk in clinic on telegraph and ford in dearborn $200 with medical records $275 without, and very very good people there.

edited to add:
went in around 10am midweek and was out of there by 11:00 with recommendation in hand. not sure how busy it is later on, but it wasnt too bad at that time, maybe 3-4 patients in front of me. make sure you tell them that you are there for your mmmp referral.

i got a voicemail from the dr while i was away on vacation. He left his name and number and wants me to call back during business hours. Im hoping that means im in and can set up an appointment. If not I will check out the tel-ford clinic.

My knee is much better now. Still cant run on it, and it hurts, but not nearly as bad as it used to. If the dr asks though its killing me :)

you should have your head put in a vice for being a knucklehead! I hope your doc tells you to take a long walk off a short pier!

dude just speak the truth you don't have to lie, there is no such thing as non-medicinal use of marijuana..all use of marijuana is therapeutic at the least. You have a history of pain so you do qualify. What is it you use marijuana 4; to help you sleep? relax? socialize? pain? anxiety? anger? hunger? seizures? diabetic? blood pressure? restless legs? PTSD? Depression? Fear? Nausea? Heartburn? Radiation? Sleepwalking? Digestive disease? MS? Scoliosis? Autism? Hepatitis C? Aids? Cancer? Glaucoma? Tourette-Syndrome ? Inflammation? ADHD? ADD? Bipolar? Menstrual Cramps? Headache?

...its all medicinal use..its a medicine.

wow now there is a solid case for someone that needs to smoke one and calm down.

this is how I read your post.... You tell me my pain in my back is not life threatening so I should keep taking the prescribed daily amount of narcotics that my doctor had me on (Vicoden and Oxy's) because your butt hurt about some people smoking and there just sore from a honest days work? I think your missing the point. This drug is much more than just getting high.

your first choice is violence, putting someone's head in a vice...wow! I'm sorry you got what ever you got, but maybe you would do better by turning that frown upside down and smoke a big joint.

If you are still angry after that, move to hell michigan, because your attitude would make you right at home there.

First off, EVERYONE should have a RIGHT, Humanity Based, to DO WHATEVER THEY WISH TO THEIR BODY. Second, One doesnt need a doctor to tell them they are in pain, and if cannabis helps, than do it. Medical Marijuana is a fraud because it discriminates. Its taking away from the point, but given special attention to only a few. (p.s. a doctor isnt doing a humane job if he recommends death, period)

I really wish the whole "Medical Marijuana Movement" WOULD WAKE THE FUCK UP. Its actually a very bad thing on the whole LEGALIZATION efforts...which is where the MOVEMENT needs to be heading. EVERY HUMAN SHOULD HAVE A RIGHT TO CANNABIS, regardles of the fucking reasons being medical based or recreational. AMEN!

Sneezy....You give a great impression that you are the only one intitled to smoking cannabis, especially just cause of a medical condition/history.

my point is if you are going to smoke pot then smoke pot but dont use this medical system to do it! if you are truly hurt and it is going to effect the rest of your life then all be it, if not dont clog the system for people that actually need it!

Well that is a much more polite way of putting it. I hope you can see the lesson in that.
Moreso, I think that you are missing the abject point of the whole Legalization Movement..Again, the Medical Marijuana movement is a fraud. It is a discriminating health law. How is a health law any good when it is only designed for a select few. People, in general should have acess to Cannabis, regardless of its intent to medicate or to have some recreation. Further more, any time you consume cannabis you are medicating whether you are "Certified Medical Marijuana Exemptee" or if you are "Bob Marley the Burnout". There is no circumstantial difference. Cannabis is Medicine.

Lastly, If you wish to put anything in a vice and squeeze it, it should be the "Medical Marijuana System"

So you are the authority on who can smoke? And it should only be for something that will ruin your life? Fuck you asshole. GTFO of my thread.

I called the clinic back and they said they need the chart notes to be at least 90 days apart. I explained about not going in for the first 6 weeks because i thought it was a run of the mill injury and would heal on its own, but he said they still require the chart notes to be 90 days apart regardless of when the injury happened. So he said to wait longer and go back to the dr about it, then call the clinic back. I still have about 3 weeks to go until 90 days will have elapsed from my first appointment. I am going to call that tel-ford clinic, but they are only open 9-5 m-f, and i work 9-5 m-f so im not sure when ill be able to get in. It may end up being easier and just as quick to get another drs appointment in 3 weeks then call the clinic back.

Very well stated. I actually get that vibe alot, and I supply some dispensaries and clubs.. It is so that. They think their poops arent brown and stinky like the rest. Like they are the only ones intitled to smoke the holy herb.

When I first started delivering herb to one dispensary, I actually had their security team tell me that without "a card" , " I dont belong here". First, I stated, so much for public health laws, secondly I said " Do you want your delivery of herbs, with or without my card"....In the latter, they end up giving my own " ID" just so I can gain enterance and securly deliever the products.....funny people with funny awnsers.....medical marijuana
