My growing area is getting way to hot so I need to get a fan to attach to my cooling tube for my 400w hps. I see a few fans on ebay with 160 cfm. Is that enough to noticably cool the area? If not, how much should be? Any advice/tips are appreciated(I am not familiar with exhaust)

well how big is your grow room?
a 160 will move 160 cubic feet per minute and if your room is about that big than that would work.
(no shit sherlock tell him something not so blatantly clear)
okay... just do the math to find out how many cubic feet your grow room is and get a fan to match.
( you might want to put a hole or a fan in the bottom of the room, box, tent, ect. so you bring in fresh coool air up off the ground(put the out take fan at the "top heat rises"))
well looks like you said it all.
( yeah and)
nothing...

Does this pertain to heat or air exhaust? Or both? I have a 4x4x8 grow area with an opening at the bottom of one side (a fan blows into it from outside the area) and an opening at the top of the same side. I am more concerned about heat at the moment. So my question is will a 160 cfm in-line duct fan connected to my cooling tube exhausting to my attic reduce the heat in the grow area significantly?

yes.
(we use a 250cfm fan on our lights)
well it's a 500cfm fan but its on two lights.
(sorry I forgot to mention that)
it's okay he gets th idea.
( I hope so)

I personally have a 4x4 tent and just have a fan exhausting the room attached to a carbon filter. My light is on it's own in there and my temps seem to be fine. try this first before you go out and buy two fans one for the room and the other for the light... Just my 2cents
