Huh?! Yes, you should water your plant. That never varies, you will always have to water you plant through all phases of growth or your plant will die.

It depends on your soil and how much h2o your plant absorbs, get a moisture meter at Lowes they are like$4

Water your plant, when the soil on top looks dry in a few days, stick your finger in the soil an inch or two, if its dry water it some more.
Simple as that.
