How much water do YOU give soil in 5 gallon pots?

Hey everyone, I've been looking around and want your feedback. I grow in 5 gallon buckets and I give my plants about 1 liter each every 2 or 3 days. Seems to keep the soil nice and moist until day 3, then it's time for another drink. They are just starting week 5 of flower today and look pretty happy so far. How about you?

How old are they? Well more importantly how big? I won't be able to give you an answer but I know the people that will, will ask you these things. Pics would be best.

I water until 20-30% runoff in soil, same as I would in coco.

I usually watered until I saw runoff but now that I am using trays & letting it absorb back into the pot, I will be using less.. & figuring out what is best.

Yeah, 1 liter isn't gonna do it for 5 gallons of soil bro. I usually water until I hear/see it come out the bottom. It comes out to roughly half the soil capacity. So with a 5 gallon pot, I'd prob go 2 - 2 1/2 gallons of water.
I am currently using 3 gallon pots and water my plants every 3-5 days (it varies) with 1 - 1 1/2 gallons of water.

1 liter of water in a 5 gallon pot isn't going to penetrate too deep, and there's no way all the roots will get there requirements. The top of the soil may feel moist, but I guarantee the middle/bottom is bone dry.

Let the plant tell you when to water. To much water causes problems just as to little water does too. Pick up your pots,if they feel light give them water. Also it's good to give about a liter of water,let that settle into the medium for 30min then water again till 20-30% run off. Pre watering a little helps the medium absorb water better so you waste less and spend less.

im really afraid to overwater i give my plants only 1.5 quarts of water about every other day and have had absolutely no issues my white widow is growing excellently. they are in the dark now here is a pic from a few days ago though... oh and its in at least a 5 gallon bucket and is finishing up its first 10 days after 12/12 switch flowering very fast though especially compared to my tahoe og which just started showing pistils

Im really glad that I stopped by this thread, I fear this is what has been keeping my flowering phase at bay. I use 5gal geopots, and probably only feed like 1½lts, Ill double the amount now. heres a photo. two are 70cms tall and the big sativa looking girl is 80<
The photo is from before they stretched. This hopefully explains why some lower leaves have been falling off >.<

I use 5gl smart pots. Gl half water over a few hours till water seeps out of bottom

Water slowly until you get some decent runoff from the bottom of the pot. Over watering IS NOT caused by giving too much water when the plant needs it. Rather over watering is caused by watering to FREQUENTLY.

I use 5 Gallon Smart Pots. Watering is very simple; just watch and feel your soil. Overwatering is the number 1 mistake MJ growers make, so just keep that in mind. When my girls are thirsty, I feed them. Right now, as you can see in this picture (4 weeks into flowering), the plant on the right is growing like a monster! 55" with super nice colas! She will drink 1 3/4 -- 2 Gallons each watering, every 2-3 days. Also, it is not recommended to allow too much water out the bottom, as this will act like a "Flush", removing very important nutrients from your Grow Pot. Just water until dripping, then stop.

When I feed my 5 gal plastic pot soil plants....nutes is 1 gal per plant gets me a lil run off each one and when only giving straight tap water I give 2 gallons gets about a gallon run.off and takes any built.up salts

Not true u want run off or u can have salt/nute build up that can mess ur plant up

Not true u want run off or u can have salt/nute build up that can mess ur plant up

If you have salt/nute build up, then do a flush, otherwise you are flushing your plant when it doesn't need it, removing the nutes necessary for a healthy plant.

Live by this rule; Flushing is for toilets.

I use 1 liter per "gallon" of dirt. There's no set days, only when they're ready for it.

my set up with co2 and push every fertilizer to the limit the light is very bright sunglasses and a has is required or you will have an issue ! lol they ask me to water them 1/2 gallon of water every day or 2 depending on the humidity in the room and stage there in . in 5 gallon smart pots.

Mine has a mind of her own and some days she may drink up 3-5 gals and some may only be 1.5.....i just water until it shows wet then let be until its dry/moist.
