How much is too much?

So I have setup:

5 x 42W 2700K = 210W
6 x 23W 6500K = 138W

Total Watts = 348W

5 x 2600 lumen = 13,000
6 x 1700 lumen = 10,200

Total Lumens = 23,200


My space is appx 12"x 24" in area, giving a total of 2 SF.

...so is 174W/SF and 11,600 lumen to much light? I am vegging 4 plants and my temps are in the 70s. Soil, 4 weeks in and starting some FF nutes. posting pics soon.

So here is my setup. My plants are 4 weeks in from bagseed which were nearly 5 years old. They were sprouted on Feb 9th. I just potted some more fresh beans.

They are all in MG organic soil, some with perlite some w/o.

This is my first grow, and i only have RIU to thank! without all of you guys i would be nowhere.

no thats not too much light a 400 watt hps puts out over 55,000 lumens so ur good there but ur leaves worry me a little bit they r a little droopy it looks like u are overwatering back off the watering and let ur plants dry out before watering if u lift it when its watered and lift it when its dry u will notice the difference also go light on ur nutes probably about 1/4 strength for a few waterings since mg soil is pretty hot but they r looking very healthy good luck bro

Thanks smo KING. I will be repotting again into FF OF sometime in the next few weeks. As far as wattage, I was just trying to figure out what a high W/SF or lumens/SF would be.

some questions:

do i have to wait until alternating nodes show before i switch to 12/12? they are on 18/6 now, or should I just change the light schedule while its still in opposites?

do you notice a temp differential between the root level of the cab and the leaf level? my temps are about 78 at the tips and 70 by the pots. should this be lower? do the roots need to be warmer than 70?

i am gonna start growing 6 white widow max seeds this friday when i get my foxfarm soil and rock wool cubes..

i have 12 42watt=150watt cfls i will be placing 2 42wtt cfls over 1 plant.. and i also got 6 23watt=100 watt cfls... i will be placing these next to the plants.. so the plants can get light from all angles... do u think my set up will be effective???
this is my first grow ever so im kind of nervous!! haha
maybe you can give me a few pointers since our grows are similar..

no some people flower from seed but basically the longer u vegetate the greater ur yield will be it all depends on ur space...if u flower a plant that is 12 inches tall it will double and alot of times triple in size when in flower so keep that in mind..I usually flower when they r about 18 inches tall...as for ur temps they sound ideal and r in a good range the roots will be fine as in nature the temp drops can get to 60 degrees
