I am planning on using at least 6000 eventually, however i would like to use more of course. How many do you guys think is safe without attracting attention from the cops?

are you talking power drain wise?. im guessing your from the states. im from overseas so things may be differnet here. but i would bet my life that no one has ever being busted due to power drain alone. i mean lets put it in perspective, lets say we have a power company with 500,000 customers and 1000 employee's. i doubt they take the time to moniter customers power drain. the more power you use the better for them. you could be using that power for anything, bit coin mining, hydroponic vegetables, enginering etc etc. i highly doubt an employee is going to become aware of a customers huge increase in power usage and then become suspect and start investigating or wandering the course. it's not ilegal to use power or huge amounts of it, for any amount of days or certain hours per day. and it's no loss to them. plus they don't know fuck all about your property. it might be a small farm, a huge mansion or anything. they could find out, but again, that would requite more research then is probable.

you gotta think like your innocent. because that's how the rest of the world see's you. unless you give them a legit reason to think otherwise. i dunno if this is what you meant with your question. if not then im sorry. this is just something that was on my mind :)

i know someone who has grown on and off over the years and a long time back they rented an industrial building and had a massive hydroponic nft set up. they would have been using huge power draws. and they never had any issues.

anyway, have a good one.

Lol why all this rash of paranoid growers? Do you not realize that an Xbox/tv combo draws more than 400w alone? How are they supposed to tell what draws what? Btw, it seems like nobody reads the news, the "Feds" just stopped all funding for drug raids, it's up to the states now

Well it depends on a lot of factors.

If you used to use $90 worth of power a month for years and suddenly you start using $600 a month, your power company may notice and flag you to law enforcement. It all depends on where you live.

Some power companies ARE watching for growers. Others don't care as long as the bill is paid. If you have a smart meter you are doubly fucked since they can tell exactly when you lights are coming on and for how long. Hard to blame it on electric heat when its running 12 hour cycles daily.

Your power usage alone should not get you busted. It could start an investigation though.
