How many seeds?

Ok basically I was wondering how many seeds do u put in a gallon pot? Im growing outdoors and i live in ontario, i was thinking of using Northern Lights.

In any size pot up to 5 gal.

If you're growing outside, why not plant directly in the ground?
Seems like you'll be restricting the roots much less that way.
