i wanted to get some insight on how many plants to grow in my cabinet for optimal yield.

I plan on using some fabric soft pots. It will fit 9 two gallon pots or 4 five gallon pots. The space is 26”x26” and about 54” in height

I’m kinda thinking of doing the 9 smaller plants just because of the height of the cabinet

What do you guys think?
Reply’s are much appreciated
Cheers and happy growing

Initially, I thought that 5 gallon pots because larger pots give you larger plants. But as you mentioned, your height is only 4' - 6" which may be restrictive and you may be better off with a SOG in the smaller pots.

What kind of lighting are you planning on using in there?

My 2x2 was pretty stuffed with 4 in 2 gallon fabric pots. Not sure how you would fit 9 of them in that space.
Was thinking about a 1 plant scrog or a bunch in 1 gal pots for the next run.

I made my own light with 6-24” Bridgelux gen2 strip led’s

System Specs:
Type: C.C./Series

Diode Count: 672

System Voltage: 117.6V

System Current: 1050mA

System Power: 123.5W

Lumen Estimate (3000K): 21,504

Efficacy: 174 lm/w

The 2 gallon pots have a 8” diameter. If I do the 9 they won’t be vegged for very long, my thought with this is that it would make for a quick turnaround to start a new batch and not have to wait for 1 monster plant to fill a scrog

The 5 gallon pots have a 12” diameter and a height of 10” the 2 gallons are 8”diameter and a height of 8” so only a 2” difference between the two.......

5 U.S. gallons - I get it now. Cause my 5 Imperial gallon buckets are 12" in diameter and 15" in height.

At your smaller plant size, a 2 gallon bucket would be plenty. Your approx. 5 sq. ft. area should be filled pretty nicely with 9 smaller ladies.

Thanks for the reply, I think I’ll go with the 2 gallon pots and see how it goes. Won’t know for sure until you try I guess lol

Should I do a Scrog or just some LST with zip ties and wire and tie it to the sides of the pots? I’ve done both in the past and liked tying them to the sides of the pots a little more. I liked that they were all separated made it a little easier

You could LST with 4, veg them a little longer and you'll have pretty good sized girls before you flip.

If you go with 9, I don't think the girls will get large enough to truly take advantage of the same training. Top or FIM 1 - 2 weeks before you flip to 12/12/. Let the lowers catch up a bit to increase bud sites.

@Rattlehead121 - are you going from seed or clone?

I follow the container size = 1gallon/month. So the 2 gallon pots would work well for hearty clones vegging for a week or two before going to flower in your space. Otherwise the 5 gallon pots would be great going from seed.
