How many BTU should I get in a minisplit?

7k of light. I am planning on venting the lights in the room, total sealed room. It's either that or I do water cooling on the 5X600w hps and vent just the 4X1k in the room if it's too hot. I am thinking I need a 2 ton, SEER 16 inverted DC unit with dehumidification and heat. The room is about 11X16X10'. Some of the light will be from the veg chamber attached but pumping heat to the flower room to cool. So basically the minisplit has to handle all the heat.

Also, this is in an area where ambient temps get over 100.

With air cooled lights, you can figure 3000 - 4000 BTU per 1000 watt light... so 21 to 28K would be the minimum for 7000 watts of light. If you have higher than normal ambient temps you may want to devote more cooling per 1000 watts of light.... Your estimate for a 2 ton should work - but you may want to go ahead and get a 3 ton (36K BTU) - especially if your CO2 supplementation is handled by a generator of some sort as these produce quite a bit of heat and humidity. Your AC will last longer if it isn't working at max capacity. The cost per BTU usually goes down as you move up in overall capacity.

So I think I have had to get realistic about this. I have two rooms to play with and I will probably yield more splitting my light out to both spaces. So it will be like this, 4 1ks in the garage room handled by the minisplit and venting the hoods around the room (thinking about a chiller), not into it, 1 600w and an 8 light 4 foot T5 for vegging and cloning, and then I am taking the dual double 600 digi balasts and making an all organic hydro room with water cooled vertical lights. I have always wanted to try that. I am fine with hydro but I have never done organic hydro so expect loads of questions.

For now I just have the two digi 1ks on, one @600w and one at 1k vegging the crew up on 18/6 for a few weeks. Hopefully I will have everything in line next month when the heat starts kicking in and I want to turn on more lights.

Pics...soon, I promise.
